exactly... my point the kid =)

my error exactly could be my log files

EDIT:

shlomil...

try adding:

Option "NvAGP" "3"
Option "RenderAccel" "TRUE"

under #Option "NoLogo" "On"

EDIT2:

sry about this =/

but if this doesn't work and u just wanna play try:

comment out the RENDERACCEL and change NvAGP to 0

it won't be too fast, but work i think... works for me
Jun 14, 2003 raybondo link
Hmm, it all may be related to the new shader stuff we added. We were having some issues with vertex buffer objects in linux. I don't know how soon a fix will be out.

FYI, when I switched from nvidia opengl libraries to the standard ones, vendetta works now.
Jun 14, 2003 BusMasteR link
**
I discovered that it seems to run better in the NvAGP 0 mode with renderaccel true...
**

i've tried the standard drivers, and they didn't work on my machine...

EDIT: forgot a word =)

EDIT2: Discard info between stars =)

mine crashes right after I select which profile I'd like to use... it does the usual "loading" and then crashed. It seems to be a OpenGL problem as DirectX works fine.

Windows 98
ATI Radeon 7200 (it has AGP)
Jun 14, 2003 Turmoyl link
This doesn't seem to produce any error log entries for me but here's how I get around it:

I run Vendetta from a console (for example: # /home/username/.vendetta/vendetta).

Everything runs fine after that. It seems to just be a bad call from the updater to the binary.
Jun 14, 2003 BusMasteR link
Hmm i've tried that Turmoyl, and i can't seem to make that work either...

Guess we'll (my and a friend) have to live without agp for a while =/
Jun 14, 2003 shlomil link
it just wouldn't work ..
i did try the :

Option "NvAGP" "3"
Option "RenderAccel" "TRUE"

didn't work, then i restarted with:

Option "NvAGP" "0"

still doesn't work.

If you don't have the line

Load "dri"

in xf86config under section "module" either, then i don't know what's wrong...
Jun 15, 2003 shlomil link
nope. after adding load "dri" - still crashes. no change.
if i run ~/.vendetta/vendetta it outputs :
Fatal Error: Couldn't open window.

i have the 4191 drivers installed. maybe i have to upgrade ?
could that be it ?

Is it possible to run the game without the new graphic features? like , turn the Pixel Shader and Vertex Shader support off ?
Jun 15, 2003 BusMasteR link
ow - i mean't that, it shouldn't be there =)
Jun 15, 2003 roguelazer link
shlomil, the features are OFF by default. Here's what you do:

Go get the .tar.gz files from NVIDIA (directly) of the latest drivers. Install them as according to documentation. Rewrite your config file to include the proper "nvidia" driver, and make sure glx is loaded. Make sure DRI and DRM are NOT loaded, and hopefully they're not even in the kernel. Then try it again. If it fails, post here again.

I am also having trubble with this new 3.2.6 , and 3.2.5 worked just fine with my system. The mintue i want to select a ship or leave the station i get a "red sky" picture and the thing crashes. If i run it in a console i get "Segmentation fault" returned.

this is with a G-force 4 400MX and linux mandrake 9.1 with the leatist nvidia drivers.

:(( i carn't play vendetta, help!

(i posted this on another place , but it seems more apropriate here now)
Jun 16, 2003 GooZ link
My Vendetta also crashes ...

I've xfree4.3 and nvidia gf2 mx400 with nvidia 43.63 drivers on Debian Unstable.

i've managed to get into the station but when i go out the station the game crash.

3.2.5 version runs perfectly with this configuration.

I also get segmentation fault. Just after loading textures.

What's going on?

RIVA TNT2, 4363 Nvidia drivers, RHat 8.0

Please fix it!

Jun 17, 2003 raybondo link
I think Animal's bug is fixed, since it looks like you don't have GL_ARB_vertex_program. There was a NULL function pointer call in that case.

Shlomil, can you run glxgears? Were you able to run Vendetta before? Try deleting your config.ini file to see if it can now run. The 'Fatal error Can't open window' msg should not be a cause of the shader code.
Can you try checking to see of the refgl.so file in your .vendetta/drivers directory has any unavailable functions? I think it's the ldd command in Linux.
Jun 17, 2003 Animal link
nope, not fixed yet.. still segfaulting on me.

if i run the vendetta previous version from my slackware drive, it'll load until login and then protocol incompatible, as expected, so it's some change thats been made to the code in .6 thats affecting NVidia users like myself.

all i get is loading textures then segfault.

Please help!
Jun 18, 2003 shlomil link
even after the 3.2.7 update, i still have crashes.
i even added manually the
doshaders=0
dovertexbuffers=0
lines to the [refgl] section in my config \.ini file.

:(
