I don't remember who, but there was a guy using flechettes and positively whopping my arse in pvp.

A new array of phase blasters and ion cannons could be cool (since they seem to be only low end)

It's been a couple of monthes now. How long does "trivial" translate to?

It's been 3 months. Are we getting close?

Patience, youngun. You will learn that it takes... much... more... time... -.-

Sorry, it's been another couple of months and I am having difficulty being patient.
Feb 04, 2007 toshiro link
Patience is a virtue. Every VOmonk needs to train in the Fields of Viscuous Timeflows to sustain the patience demanded of those who wish to become VOmasters. If you do not display extreme patience with the timeflows, hordes of unwashed villagers will tear you to shreds.

Edited: Added capitalization.

for rizzie, make more badges!

I'll at least get some new badges defined in the ticketing system this week. I haven't had a chance to work on graphics stuff for awhile, and this week I'm focusing on other areas.. like faction, FF, and economy (Kourier is in internal testing, so the prospect of actually *using* the deliverator-replacement is now imminent). Anyway, badge graphics shouldn't be that hard to come up with.

What about setting up a community contest?

"Provide devs with badge pics for the following categories: Queens, Levis, Mining, Trading, Having 13 POS stripes, PKing in a moth, Cookie hunting, etc. and win 1M credits/a free month subs/a custom ship paintjob/some virtual cookies".

I'm sure it'd be a blast.

Could ya'll maybe concoct one for 'badge-whoring'? A sort of meta-badge, if you will.
Feb 07, 2007 toshiro link
Syylk, it'd probably take the devs more time to sift through the contributions than to make some of their own.
Feb 08, 2007 Syylk link
I said nothing about devs actually sifting or picking winners.

A true community contest would be run by the base, or guides/moderators, or whoever takes care of organizing events (DR, NW, FR, LMS, etc.), or voted on by forum users, whatever. When the process of sifting through is done, the devs are presented only with the best 2-3 pics. Wasting their time is foolish, not helping them even more so.

That would be true for other kind of game data - skins, music, sound effects, you name it. Involving the users seems to me a good idea to entice them, and not keep them in religious wait of some manna raining from the sky...

I'm not sure (and too lazy to search), but I think we tried and failed with the 'player-generated and -selected data' plan.
