Putting the UIT Marauder and Territorial Defender into their Roles

I know, but why would you want to turn heavy fighter like TD hog into that?
Its a..... warthog.
Would be easier for devs to just change rev c origin to UIT and UITsies get their uber light fighter.

I kinda agree with Bojan, I don't see the TD in the role of a superlight fighter with 1L port.

hmm... not sure I can add much here, not having such a head for the numbers, but even with 3900 kg more mass and 1500 less armor, I feel far safer/more dangerous in a nice Atlas X

..bojan: maybe give the TD to TPG, and the rev C and/or Atlas X to UIT?

Nah don't mess with TPG. I'd rather nothing change than mess with them.

You know, the Raptor is a light fighter.

Bojan: It still has lower Thrust:Mass than either the IBG or SVG, so it's not an "uber-fighter", it's exactly what it needs to be, a bit heavier, with one L-port.

SuberMegaNoob: Because in order to 'Defend' your 'Territory', you need to get to it before they do. The best Convoy Defenders are ones that can keep up with the convoys, move to intercept targets BEFORE they reach it and still get back to the convoy after. You need low drain and fast travel for that, hence people like to use valks.

PS. The raptor is a light coffin

Cunjo... Territory = Convoy? I don't think so.

For example, this would be a Convoy Gaurdian. Notice the low drain, and high turbo speed. http://www.vo-wiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Hornet

Gee. It's like the Devs actually thought about the names they gave their ships or something. Weird!

you're an idiot.

Same concept applies no matter what you're defending.

Yes, convoy = territory.

I like to split hairs, so:

Convoys can be regarded as changing (more exactly, moving) territory.

The TD had a defined role: High turbo drain, but also high speed. It was an interceptor, a short range one at that. And that's the way it should stay.

One L port, lose the S port, lose some mass for the missing S port, add some thrust, boost max speed to 230. Hell, make it the fastest ship around, but with 60 or 65 drain, it'll be the fastest for the fifteen seconds or so it can turbo.

My stats (Changes marked in bold):

Warthog Territorial Defender
===================
Faction: UIT
Faction Requirement: 720
Variant: Assault
Level: 2/2/2/-/-
Armor: 10000
Cargo: 4
Weapons: 1 Large
Mass: 4700 kg
Length: 10 m
Thrust: 245 N
Max Speed: 70 m/s
Spin Torque: 7.3 Nm
Turbo Speed: 230 m/s
Turbo Drain: 65/s

I like moldyman's layout.
Apr 03, 2007 vIsitor link
Hmm...I could live with that.

It seems, Moldy old CO, that you have the best idea for a layout that is both balanced and true to the TD's intended role. Bravo.

Thankyou, Moldy.
Apr 03, 2007 Aramarth link
That'd work.
Apr 05, 2007 moldyman link
Yay. So any chance this could be done, Devs?
Apr 05, 2007 Aramarth link
moldy have you ever seen them respond directly in a thread stating "it shall be done" or even "no"? This forum is sorta like praying to a god. You present your case, and He shall answer in His time, not ours.

P.S. Sacrifices do not help. Put down that space cow and knife.

Actually, they do help, and actually, they have.

/me cuts off Aramarth's hair and burns it.
Apr 05, 2007 Zed1985 link
Doesn't seem to work... lets try sacrificing Aramath!
Apr 05, 2007 moldyman link
I've gotten responses before :) And it never hurts to try.

Ehhh no...

For one, the TD is still based off the warthog, which is a reasonably fast moving ship with low drain - the MKII even has infiniboost. The IBG and SVG on the other hand are based off the cent and vult, which have been very fast moving with high drain, as fighters should be.

It makes more sense for the IBG and SVG to be the sprinters since they're light fighters, than the TD, which is essentially a small gunboat.

There's also balance to think about. The UIT need a well-rounded fighter, since their Maud isn't one. The Serco have the Prom II for long-distance runs, and the Itani have the valk. The TD should also excel in that category.
