New Ragnarok bomber variant.

Turrets on a bomber are a bad idea with the lower CS turret health. As it stands, you could fly your rag around the sector bombing turrets by switching to the turret, and reloading by leaving/entering the turret again. When all the turrets are destroyed, you'd have a fully loaded rag to take the dock at the end of the countdown. I'm actually surprised this isn't done with an Atlas-X already.

You could use 4 turrets with a trident. But if you're using a trident you would be better off just docking a rag to reload / repair.

Otherwise, why no one is using an atlas x is because it would be a highly inefficient way to take a station. In fact, I would wager that unless you ground down all of the turrets to low health prior to killing them, they would start respawning before the all of the defenses are down. Next you have to aim the turret each time you enter. If you are using a plugin to do this, then you are most likely going to be shooting at whatever is closest to the ship at the time.

I could go on, but I'll sum it up with too much work and too little fun to be more than a novel way of doing it. I do not believe having 2 turrets is going to improve on that in any significant fashion. And if it does, so what? As long as I bring my trident in outside the turret range, I can mow down every single turret with a standard rag load out very quickly because I never have to leave the sector.

The intended purpose of this ship is for Deneb battles in which you could stack avalons in sets of 3's. The turret is to defend the bomber as it makes its perfectly straight run at a cap ship at an average of 35 m/s.

I'll add one more reason. You are talking about a Ragnorok! In a system where turrets are firing huge gobs of guass and missiles at it non stop. The only stat differences based on the OP and the rag 3 are +1000 armor, +2000 kg mass and -10 max turbo. The ship gives up 3 small ports for 1 more large and 2 defensive turrets so that it's not a complete death trap.

We've done that. It sounds great in theory but nobody does it because it takes so long to actually kill the turrets. Even with a dedicated gunner pounding away constantly, it's faster to just exit the sector, reload, and come back.

This is exactly the purpose of this ship. Stacking Avalons on a moving target is hard enough when you don't have fighters up your ass.

I wonder if I shouldn't just re-post the thing at this point, since the devs have never once commented on it and we're 9 pages deep worth of discussion.

After 4 years and 8 pages, it'd be really nice to get a dev response on this, even if it is just "No, we're never doing it, stop asking."

This is one of the best ideas I've seen in years. Well work sacrificing a second or third born child to Baal.

The first principle spirit, Baal would make a pretty interesting way of depicting Guild Software, Incarnate being the center head of course.

Well he's certainly no Trump. Putin at least is worth listening to.
