Fix the de-engining on ships dropped and let us do it again!

+1 Nihilus, my favorite.

That's just stupid. Why should Nation specific ships be excluded? I've still not heard a good reason why a black market for these ships isn't viable.

Provide a suggestion for a mechanism that allows the black market to exist without neutering and leaving holes that will allow effectively eliminating faction exclusivity and you can act like you aren't hearing real and sound reasons why the idea wont work.

closing your eyes and just pretending like allowing ship trading straight up is somehow a no-brainer and the devs were dumb to get rid of it in the first place without addressing the reasons why it's not allowed now and why it had to be nerfed and stopped then is a sure fire way to have this go absolutely no where.

The reason it's not allowed now is because we have a goofy legacy engine addon thats not visible to players, but borks when ships change ownership.

Also, keep in mind that the second best idea today is better than the best idea tomorrow. Reach a consensus on a starting point, get the devs attention, and get something implemented.

"...in the process raise your middle finger to the group of people who have helped support VO and contribute to its continued existence. I honestly don't know why you are so angry about this suggestion. Why are you so bent out of shape about people not following rules in a fucking sandbox game? We are supposed to play the game how we want, not how YOU want us to play it. Jesus christ."

Greenwall is one of a small handful of vets that feel they are entitled and would like the devs to cater to his sandbox instead of the many. It says so right up there. ^^

I assure you cellsafemode is not angry and is enjoying all of your obvi rebuts to protect your game play. I also find it amusing that you can't see the forest for the trees.

Incarnate has already made recent statements about faction-specific ships and the potential for a ship black-market.

Incarnate said:
Anyway, I do not intend to make ships globally available to any nation, UIT included. There may eventually be a way for UIT to acquire ships due to military affiliation...

Incarnate said:
So, I definitely want to have a black market, and I want player construction of "everything" if possible. But the fact that the "Free" tiered people are now paying for ships with Crystal is kind of a new wrinkle. I'm not exactly sure how that's all going to play out.
...
On a pure gameplay level, I am not opposed to some level of player-to-player ship trade,...

Thanks Draugath -- probably important for people to see that if they weren't aware already.

Dirty 'oRe, if there's one thing I've been an advocate of in this game, it's for the greater good/widest array of beneficiaries. Everything I'd said in this thread is aligned with that. Moreover, what you quoted is me essentially chastising Cellsafemode for what you are falsely accusing me of, lol. If you want to point at the blue sky and call it black, be my guest, but that is roleplay bullshit that you can take to the proper forum.

I'm sure Cellsafemode appreciates you stepping in to show your support since he has been lambasted by people who quite frankly understand this game and it's history much better than he. Unfortunately no amount of run-on sentences that show a poor understanding of the game is going to win him favor.

Understanding the history of the game doesn't make you right, it just makes you an inflexible old fart. Don't confuse familiarity with fair gameplay. You all need Darth, if only to rebut your own self-serving suggestions. I welcome suggestions from new players more than the old vets. This game needs some fresh eyes.

All of these threads end up being us-versus-them and therefore could all be put into the RP forum. You can stop with the RP forum is that way shit. Its getting tired.
Nov 14, 2014 greenwall link
I'll stop when you stop bringing your bullshit to non-roleplay areas.

And I'd like you to point out how anything I've said is only self-serving, because you just sound like a crazy hater with nothing to back up your claims.
Nov 14, 2014 Savet link
I'm actually going to have to agree that Greenwall's last comment does not appear to be self-serving, and is actually quite well rounded.

Draug, I have to disagree that prior dev statements can be regarded as completely authoritative considering said devs cannot maintain enough perspective to see abuses of the faction system as a result of their own actions on player tickets. This is the suggestion forum, for things that make the game better. Pointing out where things don't fit with intended design is the bugs forum.

Clearly I said "you all" not Greenwall. As much as it pains me to say this, I actually feel like you've been more pragmatic about your gameplay of late, than say Ancient Fuck-up. Jump to any conclusions you want though.

Can we please get back to topic? Take this to the RP Forums and focus on the idea. If you don't like certain parts of it, suggest a solution instead of pointing your finger at it and screaming doubts.

The important fact is that ship trading is needed.
Nov 17, 2014 Savet link
Agreed.

Let's address this in 1 easy steps:

1. Only drop the ship if the carrying container explodes. Drop the ship when the carrying ship is destroyed by another player (like npc drops). Someone selling ships would have to factor in the cost of an XC for the transaction, and unless a person had 2 accounts they could not drop their own ships.

This allows you to steal ships from players, making a black market...and allows players to continue to ship their own. It opens up a high price black market since the customer would be paying XC + ship cost + profit margin.
