In all seriousness, a conquerable station would be cool, but how would un-keyed players use the track? I reckon a tube with hostile guards trying to get you while you raced would be pretty awesome, but I doubt many others would share that opinion.

Were it conquerable, I'd like to see a free market like the one in Latos, to entice folks to take it over, or perhaps some kind of bulletin board type of market (e.g. I unload 10x Item X and allow them to be sold for X credits/unit. I would receive say 90% of the sell price, the station keeps the remaining 10%).

This would also satisfy those clamoring for some kind of organised in-station trade (assuming you had access, of course).

Or, you could just Palace me up! Sieg Blarg!

though using it as a player-created-generic-mission thingy would work further down the road too. not sure I want Latos N2 to get all the testing content regarding station stuff.

You suggested making it conquerable. I expanded on your suggestion. Thats what happens here...

Lux, Conquest by feat of speed sounds cool, but if I recall, there are some bugs in the race system. I've seen crazy results recorded in the past, though these may have been anything from player exploits to data error. Could even have been legit results during weeks when few players raced. I dunno. Maybe Inc or Ray could weigh in of the feasibility of this idea?

1) This isn't exactly low-hanging fruit, you're asking us to develop a new in-station trade UI. That's the work here. I'm not against doing that, but there's some effort involved.

2) You know the instant there's a station with no NFZ, it'll be perma-mined, right? And people will be getting ganked constantly at launch, and then writing grumpy tickets about it?

3) I'm fine with adding some usage to the racetrack station, but for this case we could use any station..? Really, the racetrack? We don't lack for station assets.

I'm offering suggestions, but the only thing I'm asking for is to literally do _anything_ with the station which is currently unusable.

Just activate it for now, figure out what to use it for later.

You may have plenty of stations, but you only have one station in grey space with a race track which is currently unused for anything useful. The race track gives it a gabler's paradise feel.

I understand things take work but simply activating the station as a starting point is a low hanging fruit. What we do with it is completely up to you and the community can offer whatever suggestions they like, many of which are in this thread. But please do something with it.

Remember we can destroy mines with explosions now? Mined stations really pose not much of an annoyance when you can just blow them all up at once with an avalon or at least clear a dock with some rockets.

The issue is usually people launching who docked some time ago and have no idea the launch bays are mined.

So don't let them home.

We could do that. I believe that will require new code and testing as well, I don't think we have an un-homeable station concept right now.

Yes, I understand these are just suggestions, and they're what the community can offer. I'm happy for that, but I do post information and questions to clarify what the community really wants, as well as helping people understand the challenges of different aspects of a request.

It's good to clarify ramifications before burning dev time on something people "think" they want.. good to make sure, you know?

Making it into a station should not be a big deal. Making it have a player trade interface, and not allow people to home, that's considerably more involved. Again, not opposed to that, but it has to be balanced against other projects.

Shouldn't you be able to disable the "home" button at a given station? Or use whatever code exists to redirect someone's home to their home nation like if you're homed at Xiang Xi and you shoot a guard?

As far as newbs go, this isn't newb space and they shouldn't expect newb treatment. In fact, maybe even the ability to dock could be tied to license levels. That can't be too far off from the code that say's you can dock if you're not hated. I'd say at least combat 4 to dock, unless we want to make it a real perk for subscribers and make it combat 5.

Don't have any commodities, ships or addons for sale here. But maybe bump up the storage to encourage a shop bot or trade-stock.

Keep it simple and see what folks do with it.

Regarding docking issues, just make it conquerable :) Let us have guards chase us in the tube, while turrets fire at us! Or, hold off on that, and look into the "conquest by feat of speed" idea.

As for perma-mining.. meh. Latos M-7 has no NFZ. There are somtimes mines there, but hardly "always". I get that it's a bigg station, and mining all exits is hard, but still... It's not like we see the station tube being perma-mined, which it currently could easily be.

I think you're over-thinking the ramifications, Inc. If it turns to shit, roll-back!

well, dont list it as a station - if new pilots get stuck there, too bad. it IS sedina, after all. If things go to shit, I wouldnt say roll back - just say "We'll fix it when we get around to revamping all systems". Or, something like that. 9 times out of 10 its a pilot's own dumb fault for getting stuck in greyspace; with unlisted stations, that should be 10 times out of 10 and triply obvious. to me at least.
