There is no limit to the amount of ships you can enter. Waylon, I guess you can enter but you can't win the cash so that would go to the runner up then. But by all means submit your designs!

I intentioanlly set the date far off so that designs can be rendered then fixed up. If a lot of people submit finished products earlier I may give a moved up date for preliminarys. The FINALS will still be held on June 1st
NEW RULE: Developers MAY enter but may not win the prize money. They are after all the Devs and can generate their own money and this is for player designs. I encourage devs to enter though.

Any format for Mac or PC works, as long as it is a standard program. I have both a mac and PC so you don't need to worry about conversion.

Previously generated designs (liek Aroltes Hog) can be submitted if you want but I haven't decided whether I will include them in endorsement since they have already been viewed by the Devs. I want these ships to be brand new never before seen.
To send an e-mail picture, save it as a document, then attach it (as an attachment) and e-mail it to the SUBMISSIONS email address before April 1st, 2004.

Povray is more standard than any other raytracer, so I'd guess so. Personally, I prefer yafray.

As for borrowing pieces then splicing them with your own, go ahead, just dont plagerize an entire image.

i have no access to a 3d rendering software (and i lack the know-how). i already got 2 ships in a top, side, front, bottom and rear view, made in freehand.

And for them to have skin on them (aka, steel coloring, national coloring...) Make the craft look like it's gonna go flying rather than just the basic designs and layout. It doesn't have to be absolutely rendered to the level of Waylons but just understandable.
ZOID: How're you trying to send it? Are you using my correct e-mail address? How large is the file you're sending? Compressing the file maybe worth a try if the file is huge. I think that my e-mail has a certain data limit but I'll raise the limit to the max.
