Upcoming Balance Tweaks.

I've made a bunch of small changes to ships, which should be released later this afternoon. The biggest changes were to the Warthogs, which should be somewhat more useful. The Proms were slightly nerfed again, as were a number of other ships. Turbo drain on the Vulturius was dropped to 65. Valk was very slightly buffed, but I don't like to change the Valk very much (I've long used it as an unchanged "Control" of how a fighter should perform). I'll continue tweaking again next week, but check out the changes and post your thoughts (please be constructive. No, I don't Hate The Serco ;).

Thanks everyone. Sorry it's been so long since you've seen changes, but they should be coming pretty often now.

There'll be more sweeping changes to the economy and other areas coming up, but I'll get your feedback about that in a separate thread, when it gets closer to happening.

Incarnate's a good Itani, he doesn't hate the Serco, he just hates what they do. ;-p

I just hope the Valk will be able to outclass an IBG. It has bothered be that 9 times out of 10, a Combat license 9 IDF Valk will lose to a Combat license 1 IBG Centurion (is it really license 1? That's what the VO-wiki says, but I thought it was 2 or 3... still shouldn't beat a combat 9 Valk though).

What I'm really looking forward to though, is the "balance tweak" to make my amd64 computer a bit better.

erm. since the devs made the wiki (mostly) I'd think its gotta be true :)
we really need these updates, I found the wraith to be almost 100% for doing its job as a light bomber, but it speeds up/down jussst so it can't get out of the way for anything. other then stinking when it comes to getting out of the way of sunflares, I'v killed manymnanymany rev'c's in em'

Was the Hornet tweaked? It is by far the most useless fighter in the game.

@zamzx zik: No, the devs made the design wiki ( http://design.vendetta-online.com/wiki ), but it doesn't have info on ship stats & stuff, just the design plans for the future. I was refering to the VO-wiki ( http://www.vo-wiki.com/wiki/ ), which has primarily been written by players (although I do think the devs have contributed somewhat).

Wow. I totally wasn't expecting this so soon. The devs continue to impress. Thank you very much, Incarnate! I'm looking VERY forward to seeing this update.

Me see's the words *Valk* and *Buff* hmmm, =))))

Hmmm....me sees the Corvus Vulture able to get through a storm. No more need for Serco standing. I always thought that the Valk and the Prom should be more or less on even playing ground, even though I'm not a fan of ether really.

Now I just gotta find the time to get in the dern game! :(

Thanks much Devs :)

Cheers!

Hey, the 'hog was always one of my favorites... I used it even while it was supposedly underpowered.

Thanks for the update, Incarnate!

Don't forget about the Hornet! It could probably use a mass and thrust increase to help carry those 4s ports a little more gracefully.

First off -
3:23 AM?!? Incarnate, don't you EVER sleep?

and, second-
Woo HOO! My beloved Valk Rune is buff-er! I am totally digging this!

And if the Warthog is modified, then perhaps I will finally get my UIT standing up and try out a UIT Territorial Defender.
Jun 16, 2005 macguy link
YAY! Maybe a hog will be able to fly slightly better with a AGT in it! MMM my dreams may partly come true. And as lebermac said, do you guys ever sleep?!?!
Jun 16, 2005 Arolte link
LOL!! Damnit... now I wish I had stuck to UIT a little longer. Oh well, I'll just raise my standing and see if the Warthog Territorial Defender is worth switching back to UIT again. But I don't want to bug the devs about it anymore. It wouldn't be fair to them and I don't want to waste their time anymore. Besides, I don't think raising those XP levels for a Warthog and AGT are hard anyway.

Ughhh, if only there were an easier way to switch between nations, maybe with a dramatic faction drop of your former nation or something (unless you're the highest rank). That would be cool. I don't know, I just have a stupid tendency to jump into the nation with the best version of the ship I like the most. With all these tweaks it's hard not to be indecisive.

ooo cant wait, the hog has always been my favorite ship. Perhaps i can get out this damn valk and actualy stay alive for a few battles :P
Jun 16, 2005 incarnate link
Keep in mind the Valk changes are pretty small, only a 5N buff to general thrust. IBG/RevC were dropped by a miniscule 2N of thrust, and tweaked a little elsewhere (cargo, etc). Again, I'll probably revisit these next week, when I see how the changes go.

Hornets have had an increase in thrust. About 20N, I think. Most of the ships have had small tweaks here and there.
