I've never used them, and only seen them once, but I assume they are deadly in combat around asteroids. If they have a big splash damage, then simply shoot an asteroid and the target goes boom!
Of course, I'm just assuming here. I can't actually afford the gun, so I can't try it.

Its not supposed to be used in a dogfight, it should be very, very slow.
Q: what are avalons good for?
A: Taking out turrets. Right now they're useless, except for firing them at stations to kill traders.... Really, until capital ships get in, how can you fire them and escape without taking damage?
