Please post bugs and problems with the new beta6 release here.

Also, please run it without copying over config files again, and see how the default graphics settings work this time. Thanks.

There were complaints about it being slow, so we just put it back to the current-production standard (no smoke) for simplicity's sake.

Ah, I can understand that. It was kind of a nice touch though. Maybe we can look forward to something similar in the future?

The charinfo screen is nice, but I dont think it should fill up the whole screen, but thats my opinion, does not apply to others :)

I actually really liked the smoke effect as standard. Even with my shitty graphics card. I never noticed any problems with speed.

It was great to be REALLY damaged, and have visibility issues. Its the kind of thing I'd like to see more of.

I sort-of liked the smoke, but I think the effect was too cheap and unrealistic to be kept in. The idea is a good one, however - but maybe a better smoke/particle/spark effect could be made that would serve the function better...

I'm with Shape and Doukutsu on this. I've never experienced slowdown with smoke (heck, a few asteroids lag me far much more than smoke ever will). <troll>May I venture that the people complaining don't like not being able to see when they backroll?</troll>

double clicking to open up menus and select items would be very much appreciated.

Smoke was awesome.
Deters backrollers.
Its immersive.
Makes you feel like your ship is ACTUALLY damaged.
Gives you an indicater as too when your ship is damaged and how severely.
Decreases visibility which brings a notch up on the cool factor.
I just all around love it.
PLEASE put it back.

The one problem I found with the 1st person smoke was that it hinders visibility so much as it became a problem while fighting.

It didn't make much sense for the smoke to remain in your face if you were moving forward.

I dont mind the smoke stuff (was kinda neat actually) but it should not stay ahead of you as you move forward.

Yap, considering there's no air around you to slow it, it should remain with you, as it's moving at the same speed of the ship.

I like the smoke. T'was a good effect. I would also like everything else to get more goofy when you're damaged. Like intermittent turbo, flickering HUD display, unreliable autoaim, error klaxons, grinding and clanking noises coming from your hull, etc etc.
But I guess that goes in that "other" thread...

I'll endeavour to download the b6 client tonite and see what's up with it.

This one runs without any problems :)
I ran it with the default settings --- worked fine
then cop ymy config.ini file ---- worked fine
then copy my wcfa.cfg(or something :p) ---- worked fine!

Now the only thing I have to check is if the mission/general messages appears when they are not selected.

GOOD JOB so far

[edit] /me votes for the reimplement of the smoke (even if it would be better on the cockpit/ship-nose/customisable view :p )---> I know THAT is another story...
