Whats the point?

Jul 28, 2004 drere link
There use to be rivalry between races with the capture the flag idea. There also use to be a readon to kill other races , because you would get a bounty. Why is it all gone, and whats the point now?

Well, you feel that it's apparently to bore you to death. On the other hand, most of us feel it's to actually do ROLE PLAYING. Ya know... those two words that tie in with the letters R and P of MMORPG. :)

Face it, Space Quake is dead and gone never to return. Content WILL be forthcoming which will provide us with lots of missions and reasons to go kill each other.

I'll handle this one...

The developers know it's boring right now. This is a beta test. A new universe was added and they're in the process of squashing bugs and adding content. This stuff takes time. Be patient. New things are coming soon™.

Just one point there is a war between Serco and Itani to keep ppl fighting, there just are no ppl atm.

Im just saying I liked how everything was relativly close, and there was bigger rivalry between sectors. That way you interacted with others more often. The way it is now, I havent seen any body exept bots for ages. It gets kinda old and boring and repetative.

Pretty much what everyone said above, but with a few additions:

Vendetta has always been planned as a MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER Online Role-Playing Game. The universe pretty much has to be huge by definition. Right now the universe is sparsely populated because:
1) It's a little boring between updates because content is still being rolled out in stages. It's done this way to simplify bug-fixes. Vendetta is now in "beta" production, meaning "it ain't done yet".
2) New users cannot join as there is a freeze on new accounts. When stress-testing is needed, they will be re-opened and a call for players will go out.

As content is added, the rivalry you speak of will have much more relevance.

There's very little chance that FM will lock this as there is still room for debate or discussion. Usually, a question such as this gets responses such as these and it shakes other questions loose from the gray-matter of the poster or readers such as:

*Will bounties be re-instituted for bad guys?
*Will score of any type be re-instituted?
*Could the targeting info contain kill numbers of the pilot to see who the PvP pilots are?
*(Phonix's fav) Will pilots eventually be able to be factionless or in the "pirate" faction?

These are relevant questions that fall under the title of this thread or could be added to suggestions.

Arolte and FM did, indeed, cover why these things are not in the beta (atm) but there is always the urge to try and discover what is to come that may cover his mention of what is gone.

I agree with Relayer. Eventhough all the content isnt there, i would just liek to say that i would like some form of bounty and score system to be re-instated at soem point.

What good is this bug fixing if there are barely peaple playing, ok it's the holiday season. I'n not asking to open the account section but why cant the current players invite some peaple in or so. Too make sure not too many peaple sign up just a few more. Not just for the fun of the game but for more varity (ok i don't know how to write this word in english, lol)

I already invited friend who liked this kinda stuff in in version 3.1 so i wont be using the privilage (it's vacation give me a brake). Maybe 1 invitation per account ?

"What good is this bug fixing if there are barely peaple playing..."

The good is that there won't be so many bugs when more people are playing - and paying to do so.

when more content is added in, there will be NEW and ImProoved reasons to kill and interact with each other =D

Don't you want as many bugs who are already there to pop up? When you go for stress testing there better not be too many bugs ok it's beta but the new peaple will be far more critical than the current players. Cause the current players are dedicated fans who even play the current game with fun.

NOw FM is right, you can't open the accounts now that would be disasterous. But i never saw more than 10 peaple online lately in a universe of more than 7000 sectors! There should be ongoing play time with a minimal amount of peaple i say 16 is minimal this is the amount of peaple one plays with (15) in jedi knight in one Area. Right now while i'm writing this message only IRC is online.

I just suggested some new blood maybe 1 invitation per account that would do the trick i think. Not letting peaple sign on again. Vendetta has been in the news lately and there vultures (lol) around looking for a 3D FreeWare game especially online-only (mmog's).

But with the new version and this low amount of players online (count in vacation period) , how can you be sure when it's ready for stress sesting. Maybe there is a serious bug that will show itself ones we double the accounts.

Maybe i missed some important thing, i'm no game dev, so i don't know much. but it does sound reasonable. But i gues the pyramid-system seems reasonable at first :)

"Maybe there is a serious bug that will show itself ones we double the accounts."

Right, and it will show up when they stress-test. The reason no one plays right now is because there's nothing to do, not because no one has the game client. As the devs add more content, you can bet that there will be more people online from the existing pool of testers. There's no need to add new accounts, just add content.

You're right but i think nOObs can count as a new featue :)

And with: "Maybe there is a serious bug that will show itself ones we double the accounts." i meant that if theres nobody online how you know it works in a more realistic kind of way with a little sarcasm in it, so not too seriously :)

"Right, and it will show up when they stress-test." <--- these things do happen, why the hell else would they name it "Stress test"

But still you're right, i havent been playing myself because i'm quite busy and theres not much new right now. The new update didn't have as many new features i i hoped it would have. But from 3.4 to 3.5 was a big update even pretty fast after we went from 3.3 to 3.4. Still not many peaple come online for long just a few days with around 30 peaple online, but it passed quite fast didn't it.

I like the idea of improving the content, but also i think inviting new players would be good. I like how the universe is so large, but maybe there could be some reason for people to have to go to stations, so that way they would normally be crowded as you enter, but if you were an outlaw, you could roam the more empty sectors waiting for any lost trader to wander by.

There is still some bug testing to go before Vendetta is ready to be opened to new accounts and stress-testing. It will happen when the time is right. People need to trust guild software and realize that the devs are not new to the industry and that they do know what they are doing.

The whole reason i started with vendetta was that i just knew the dev of this game must be geniusses! And i havent lost The Faith and i'm still very happy with 3.5, i just hope there will be a european server soon after the american release.

:) i want a lower ping :)
