Someone Enlighten Me...

Jul 30, 2004 HyperSpaz link
In space...I _highly_ doubt that there would be people just flying about in _fighters_. And please no one respond "Nuh-uh! We're Explorers!"...because Explorers explore _new_ things...not things they've seen a million times. I would assume that there would be ships that felt bigger...but that doesn't really matter. I guess it's good for when (if) the Devs put in the Friggy, you'd feel...hmmm...faster...more agile....etc. But I don't understand why there're just pilots aimlessly wandering around...I mean...at least at stations you might assume some _OTHER_ ships aimlessly flying around. What I am getting at is just some NPC's would be cool...maybe make it dynamic...if you see a large caravan of NPC traders...they might say "Hey <insert name here>! We need an Escort to the <insert system/sector here>. For every one of our ships that make it to the destination, we'll pay you 10k Credits. Okay? We'll keep in touch!" I guess that'd be pretty cool...then you'd feel that you were in a living, breathing universe. Even when the public version (better yet, the full version) releases, I am willing to bet that most of the sectors you enter will be empty. And actually running into someone...like 1000 meters...would be rarer.

Everyone please post your thoughts.

Cheers.

Yeah, that would be pretty cool...

Move to suggestions maybe (one in there :P)?

Remember that the universe is still new and the devs have not added all the content that they are planning to. Trust in the Devs.

Hyperspaz:

You picked a good name for yourself, please add some spaces and line completes to that. Break it up into paragraphs so your thoughts are clearer and not running together as if you were trying to say everything in one breath.

As to your comment.

Please remember that this is a test. The devs are working very hard on adding mission content. Go to the news page and read the interview incarnate (john bergman) did with IGN RPG Vault. In the interview he gives some very definite hints as to what the final game will contain.

I've posted this analogy before, but i'll post it again here. Think of Vendetta as a slide projector. The devs have built this slide projector, and are currently making sure it works. To do this they have inserted 100 blank slides, labeled "slide 1, slide 2, slide 3, etc etc" This way, they can tell at a glance if slide 48 has appeared when it is supposed to. Thats what our current content is, a bunch of blank slides. Give them some time to put real content in.

Also the universe is primarily meant to be empty at the moment. The devs closed down tester signups until such a time as they are ready for a stress test. Once they have some content to add and re-open signups the universe should begin to fill, and gameplay will be much more entertaining.

I just think th eproblem is the scale of things. there are no big ships really, everything is about the same size. i would like to see ships ranging from what we have now (honestly, some of the ships we have now seem too small, the prom for example... should be way bigger.) then ships in the hundreds of meters range and so on, little fighters and big traders.

Read the article. The devs want those things too, but they only have so much time before release.
