First impressions

I was an EnB player. So, given this premis, here I go.

I had a lot of fun. I found old friends, I found old ways, I am impressed.

So far, as the game goes, I have done the tutorial (very skimpy but helpfull), a few missions, I encountered Ion storms and easy and hard bots, I was able to adapt to the interface a lot quicker that I thought I would (though I was not impressed with the use of the joystick; I do want to go back to it and see if it was just the first time or inherent to the way I play).

Having played also Eve, I do see more a resemblance to that game than EnB. I do like though the chat, channels and guild chat.

The interface is a bit lacking. On timed missions, there is no timer that I could relate to for keeping track if I will make it or not; there was a lot of complaining about the 3K before waring out, but one will get used to. EnB was used to warp as soon as out of the base, and warp in very close to it. It would be nice to have an outside view. Also, they put video cameras in the back of SUVs nowdays, I cannot see why these ships cannot have one too (technology lost?)

The fighting is different. I had to change my tactics to get to the bots, sort of "in your face" type of fighting. Low level missles are not very accurate, it seems, blaster is good but up close and personal. I am sure as better equipment is gotten and used, that the tactics will be about the same.

The difference between this game and EnB was that EnB was my first real Space Game. Being this the second, I got used to it much quicker.

As in Eve though, leveling seems to be very slow, or probably the first cap is a bit high (being 2000 accross the board). With 3 missions I was already at over 500 for trading, but I am still at less than 200 (what is it, weapons? I forget now) having killed 57 and 5 deaths. Personally I liked the EnB lvling, as you got bigger, it got harder to get lvls.

For the moment, there is no content/story. Being beta of course I would not expect much. Even from missions though so far there is not mauch in choices: go deliver this, go kill that, spy on this, rack some points killing a set of bots.

I love the game. I miss mining, exploring is a bit downting, space is a very very very big place, and a lot of it as very very very empty.

I am not much of a pvp player. I have played a few games that were very pvp, but I still prefer a "frendlier" environment. VO gives you that. I like that. Thank you.

good post, many valid comments, i am sure you are not alone. about the fighting i must tell you that fighting a bot and a person are very very different things. And as you fight harder and harder bots they do acutally learn about what you do so if you always use it they will recalibrate their shots to be more accurate. In that manner you have to constatnly switch strageties during the course of the battle. About the begining rocket, it is just there for kicks, it is a teaser for the good stuff that comes later. Later come guided rockets, rail guns, and very very explosive rockets to take out a bunch of bots or ppl. Also with the ship you get you have to configure your stragety with each one, with a heavy bomber you cannot simply get up close and personal every time, the turning is way to slow, so you use missles and/or a gat gun to defeat your opponent. that is one thing that i love about this game, it is skill based and there are so many strageties to choose from.

on your comment about being in a friendly enviroment, the game is called vendetta, but you can always trade. Peronlly i like to duke it out once in a while but each to his/her own so wont try to convert you. About gaining experience, i agree that 2000 is a bit high for the first lvl, but if you do the beginner combat mission and kill about 50 bots they rewards for every 5 get very large, about 1000xp combat per. so after that point it get a bit easier to train(but you have to kill about 45 each time you take the mission to get to that amount of xp) and it is like 500xp for light, 500 for heavy. And the advanced combat missions give more(given they are a pain in the ass to find the bot you need to look for)

well that is my 2 cents

New games and new controls take getting used to. I am also a long time E&B player ( well just over 2 years then poof ) I remember first starting e&b and being completely confused but as time went on I became a very capable player.Point is with patience and help from other players I am sure this game will hook me like I was with e&b. Just a few sugestions here.
Do away with the 3000 k limit one has to be before warping to another destination. Most player want to get to were they r going fast. This slows things down a bit, unless there is some reason for the 3000k clearance i am not aware of yet. the tutorial was very basic and needs big imrovements althaugh I suspect you r aware of this. the interface when docked was somewhat confusing. I did not like all the different commands to remember ( the "/" ones ). perhaps a few icons would solve this for the most used commands.or pop down menus even althaugh with time the command will become second nature, being as user freindly as posible will ensure lest frustration for those with no patience :) Thats about it so far. All in all a great effort being that only 4 developers ( I think ) have been involved so far. Overall very excited about the game.Keep up the good work ( I know it aint easy )

okay, I've been here for a few years, and let me say that the whole "300k" thing really only matters in a bus with a free battery.... As in, after the reset, I even felt the same way: too sloooooow!!

But as soon as I lvled up to a Centaurion and a Medium battery, it gets a lot faster... and just WAIT till you get a fast-charge battery, then you can turbo forever with no energy drain!!

..good things come to those who tough it out :D
