I dont think anygame ever will equal the cargo hauling experence that was in JG. When you say cargo will have mass in this game the old JG'ers just sniker and think of times when we had a tow loaded with many tons and heading into an astroid field from the dark sector going thru unreg space and burning ab fuel just miss rocks popping up. Not to mention the enemies hiding from radar behind anyone of the rocks.

Just think that if you got a tow up to full speed with a heavy load it could take you a full 3-5 min just to get it to a stop.

I dunno, a fully loaded Centaur trying to dock at the mining station in Sol II should make for an interesting trip. :D

yeah, tows just really had a BIG feel to them. their armor was thick, their shields where huge and they steered like a cow. but fully burdened there was really no ship like them.

attack ships are sleak, deadly and sexy...

but cargo ships are big, brutish work horses, that are ugly as hell but get the job done.

though jumpgates tows where far underpowered, mostly do to their drag system physics which limited the devs from giving the tows stronger engines without giving them incredible speed. after all you can only jack the drag so high.

thrust is more of a constant in this game, which is as it should be, it has nothing really to do with top speed, but it does effect how you move about.

I miss jumpgate's cargo system. Shooting up loaded tows was endless entertainment. Taking payoffs left and right. Stacking the results of a tow race for certain contestants. Dropping two nukes into a tow at 900mps while flashfiring in a ranger. That was quality gameplay. In this game it seems like anytime ANYONE gets into trouble it's just crush the TAB key until you're 3k from everything then adios, good luck killing anyone that's paying attention. Reminds me of Eve where everyone would engage warp drive at the first sign of trouble.

"When you say cargo will have mass in this game the old JG'ers just sniker and think of times when ...."

While comments and suggestions are helpful and appreciated, I can't help but notice that this thread is filling up with unfavorable comparisons to other games while ignoring the give-and-take process of being a beta-tester.

You've pointed out that cargo having mass was desirable, and 'Lo! The cargo will be having mass "Soon". That's a very cool thing and represents the amazing access and opportunity we have in dealing closely with the devs - and yet it goes unappreciated.

hey moderator, while you are taking requests here...can i get a green target box around all allies in my group. when your hunting in zones its kinda difficult to be peering to your radar when your competing with serveral other ships for kills and what not.

oh and a little box to pop up when your buying a new ship that says something like "Hey thanks for purchasing your new ship at Bobs house of UFO's, would you like to sell your current ship to us in exchange for your new one or shove it into this stations storage?"

I aperently have like 10 other ships littered around home space that i didnt find out about till recently :)
