Ok my opinion...

Nov 20, 2004 Sorath link
I'm sorry but this game really blows. I mean spent almost an hour in the game and the most combat I saw was one stupid target drone they through at me. I mean come on were pirates and raiders coming in to attack a station, were patrol ships. This game is worse then Eve online.

I love the interface and flight controls but I saw nothing that leads me to believe there is even any combat in this game and if it is it takes awhile and well that is just stupid.

I mean they could have thrown some pirates and raiders at starting point. Nothing to heavy but some thing to allow newbies to shoot at the sec they get in the game. Im not intrested in flying stuff back and forth between sytems, I want combat. I want to find the enemy and blow them out of the stars and what do I get a lot of rocks planets and whole lot of empty space with very few ships.

So I wont be playing the game.

I guess you're just not someone that likes to invest time into forming an opinion about a game, regadless of its size. Don't worry about it, lots of people aren't. I think they even make drugs for it, so you COULD be cured! Maybe.

First off im not trolling im stating a fact. Why would I play a game were my first hour is spent doing running missions and no combat at all. There a whole lot of other games out there I can play that are better that allow me to do that. I wanted action nothing more nothing less not doing cargo runs.

ill go play freelancer its more of challange then this game.

also don't post if you cant at least some what make sense. I could barely read what you post and I had to guess more then any thing.

Christ man, this is an RPG, not a shooter. In any RPG it takes a good ammount of time to get into the "good stuff." One hour is not that ammount of time. If you desperatly want combat head out into the grey sectors, pirates galore there. But dont start bitching when they completely and quickly kick your lvl 0 ship's ass.

The system in place now is there to make the learning curve as little as possible, by giving you easy bots in safe areas it allows you to practice your combat skills for larger and more important battles later in your "life."

P.s You can do combat instantly, take advanced combat and see how well you do when you don't take the newbie mission and have to attack the "one stupid target drone"

dude, this is a ROLE playing game. YOU take on the roll of who ever you want to be, and to get there you have to work, this is not an instant gratification game, and you're lucky if you havnt seen pirates, because the only pirates I know of will pwn you so hard that you'd log off and cry. So, work a bit, and you'll get somewhere.

I think the key words of his post are '...spent almost an hour in the game...'
Rather amusing, if you think about it.

Sorath, take the beginners combat mission under the missions tab. That single drone was obviously part of the tutorial. type /join 111 and ask for assitance, thats more or less the help channel.

Vendetta has amazing combat.

I would suggest finding people to duel. Also, get involved in CTC.

The frequency of combat will increase as usership increases, so another option would be to invite your friends and help spread the word.

aww. I feel very sorry for you, and I promise you that I'll do my best to show you where there is some real action in the game.

I think most peaceful traders and miners in the game can testify that indeed, there is a slight scourge of havoc spread by some minor dissidents and pirates.
*grin*

but of course, with your ability to find the first level bot and masterfully show it where it belongs in the scrappile, I'm sure we can get you into combat ready situations in no time.

And as others , such as our dear masterpirate Genka here has shown, its quite common with a frees ship (aka. bus) down in the grey areas of space, where the rest of us hang about.

I welcome you down to us, I'm currently playing in Odia G10 most of the time.

Did you try taking a combat training mission? did you try going to *any* sector with asteroids, but no stations? Trust me, the game is teeming with bots that would love to blow you away. If you are having trouble figuring out where to go, just ask in channel 100 and someone will help you.

It is a bit harder to get pvp combat (unless you go to grey space), but it doesn't sound like that is what you are after anyways.

If you want to find some bots that will give you a hard time, open your nav map and you will see that it shows you what kinds of bots are in sectors you point to. Look for guardians and assuaults.

Sorath, I love the flight controls in the game too, and that's what makes combat so great in this game. It's still growing, and a lot of new players have trouble figuring out what there is to do in the beginning. Just give it another chance, and ask for help if you need it.

I'd also like to add that many or most of the players here become very devoted to the game. Partially because we feel we are a part of it because of how the devs involve us. So when you say something like "this game really blows" it can get some people worked up. I'm sorry that you got flamed, but if you used more constructive criticism it wouldn't happen as much.

I'm very sorry to hear that Sorath. I played JumpGate for 3 plus years. I had to walk into this game with an OPEN MIND. I knew there would be a leveling curve and differences in a flight engine, etc... However, I have come to really like this game a lot. I'm sure you would too, if you just give it a chance. Having only played for an hour isn't enough time to judge anything in this game. Sure having a level 0 ship sux. However you needn't be getting straight into heavy combat straight out of the gate. You'll be even more disgruntled than you are now. The reason being that if the larger bots don't send you home, the more experienced players will. There are plenty of things to do while you are leveling up, and deciding what your character will do in game.
Your first priority should be to earn cash. Without cash you will not last long in combat with AI or other players. At the same time you will be learning of all of the features of your ship, how to control it and so on. If you want to test your self against the AI, then go to your map, and hover your mouse over the various sectors and see what bots inhabit that particular sector. The instant shooting of bots is a mere sector away from your starting point...trust me.
So, just take a deep breath, sit back and start over again. Get to know some folks, and just ask if someone will go with you to the various botting sectors.
There's a whole lot of space out there both beautiful and dangerous at the same time.

Cheers!

If you want to build a ship, don't drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work, and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea.

Unfortunately, it seems that he's left. He'll probably hang around giving the game bad reviews on various sites. There's not much we can do about his type but roll with it.

ctishman: well it's only been a few hours since he posted anyway
Nov 20, 2004 Chao link
It seems he just ranted about how there aren't enough players connected. My guess is the hour of gaming was spent in the "empty hours" (when there are 20-30 players connected) rather than the 100-160 we have every night. That's still not enough, agreed :( But leaving ain't solving anything.

Besides, I just had got my new Centurion IDF variant with twin neut-3, and on my way to UIT botting zone I clashed with a complete stranger (Serco). Warning shots, wormhole pursuit, ambush, dogfight and swarm missiles. Action is right at the corner.

This guy almost certainly a troll. I mean, seriously. How could you not find combat in Vendetta? Anyone that was actually looking for combat could easily find more combat than a n00b could handle within 10 minutes, much less an hour.
Nov 20, 2004 CrippledPidgeon link
Celebrim: he IS a troll. He posted a second thread in the Suggestions thread 6 or 7 minutes later saying essentially the same thing. If he had cared, or even shown an ounce of intelligence, he could just have asked where to find combat and EVERYONE online would have told him.

I'll bet that someone could erase both threads and no one would care cuz I doubt he's coming back to read them.

I too smell troll, but I've deleted the posts of a few users who took the bait and ran with it.

Please, either reply with something constructive (as many did, thanks for that) or refrain from posting.
