13th Nation War event

May 06, 2006 moldyman link
RULES:

1) As far as ships and weapons go, only two weapons are banned: Chaos Sawrm Missiles and Locust Swarm Missiles. This is done to recognize the "beep effect" in combat, ie scaring your opponent with all the target lockon alerts.

2) No running for obcene distances. This is subjective, but honestly.. I'll call it if you go out beyond 3,000 meters of anyone. This rule is flexible and bendable, but do not abuse it.
Better guide, don't go outside of the asteroid field.

3) Once you are dead, you are out. You may return to watch, but must announce this over sector comm.

4) Once you leave the sector you are out. This means no repairing at a station, no reloading and no jumping out to jump back in when your team wins.

5) The prize is two million credits, split among the qualifying survivors ONLY! If you have broken a rule above but have survived, don't expect to get credits.

6) The Nation War Event takes place in Sedina D-2 at the time of 11pm GMT (10pm GMT during Daylight Savings Time) on Sundays between three teams, each team representing a nation.

7) Team leaders are participants in the event, who represent their team when I speak to them. I expect them to be honest.

8) Things may change due to unavoidable circumstances. Always follow the instructions of Blue Streak or Erik C. , whichever one of my alts run the event (Usually the former)

9) If a participant is hated by their own nation, they have may go on any of the teams (including their nation's team) so long as they are A) Liked by that nation (Ignore if you join your own nation's team) and B) Announce it beforehand, to myself and/or the participants. This keeps everyone in the know.

10) No interfering with playability in the War sector. this includes (but is not limited to): Cargo drops

I modified the time. Hope to see you there

Okay! Fun War. It took more than thirty minutes, but what can you expect between me and Niki doing nothing but running from multiple opponents fooooooooooooorever... Essena was there too for the Itani, but didn't run as much as we did :)

The Participants:

Itani:
Udjuk Marwen(Team Leader)
Essena Zela
Blue Streak
sapo_sk
Niki
Valen Entil'Zha

Serco:

Fothessi Shala
Ghost Stalker
Lord Serco

UIT:
Spaceranger(Team Leader)
Drealren
Biomouse Wright
Ecka Estenk
Ion Storm
Jim Kirk
Proximity

The War:

After Roda Slane got pretty much everyone pissed and after him (Most of the 30+ participants, anyway), we got ready again. With my signal, the combatants took off. I decided to take the middle road between the UIT and Serco groups. Looking back on it, it almost looks like the Serco and UIT had it out for us >_>

Anyway, I tried engaging Culebra in his Prom but he nicked off 30% of my armor. With no backup against him, I broke off and charged into other battles, losing Culebra as he was attacked by others. I saw Redlac engaged with Niki, and he had very low armor in his Rev C. I let loose with a pair of sunnies and charged in. After taking him out (and taking a 5% chunk of my armor too) I turned around and tried to zoom through the main fight, but Culebra had reattached himself to me and took down 30% more of my armor as I peeled him of Essena.

I was suddenly chased by Ghost Stalker and Ion Storm, after taking a potshot at Screwball and hitting. The first two would follow me around for the rest of the War as I ran in circles. They didn't hit me but stray shots from the main rumble did, bringing me slowly down to 10% armor. I saw CygnusX (in his Vulture, I believe?) engaged with someone, so I dove in and launched another pair of flares to finish him off. In the meantime, Ion Storm had caught up and knocked me down to 1%! I was back to running in circles, trying but never succeeding in lossing them. Niki came in and engaged someone else who was following me and killed him off.

After ten minutes of racing in circles (I'm good at running in circles, sue me), I saw another target of oppurtunity, Serbius Bondevo. His Hornet was really low on armor and he was focused on fighting Esena (I think). I charged in and let loose with my last pair of sunnies, destroying him. Before I could break off and continue to dodge, though, Ghost Stalker finally caught up and reamed me good.

When I came back to referee, Ghost Stalker was left for the Serco, Proximity Ion Storm Jim Kirk for the UIT, and Essena Zela and Niki for the Itani. Essena got typekilled (he responded to something on 100 and then blew up, so I assume it threw him off). Niki wa running in circles again so I imposed a 5 minute limit. He turned to fight, killing a random UIT (which I didnt mention since I forgot their name), but then died. Ghost Stalker fought back but was also taken down by attrition.

The Winners:

The UIT won it this week! Congrats to Proximity, Ion Storm and Jim Kirk. Each survivor won 650k for their work.

The Standings are:

Itani - 5 wins
Serco - 5 wins
UIT - 5 wins

Our plan was to use about 3 pilots to try to take out Niki first, since he always seems to be on cleanup at the end, but he kept running around. Eventually, Blue Streak tagged me, so I chased him a bit. This wasn't getting anything killed, and our leader reported being under attack by CygnusX so I turned my dark green Corvus Vulture's guns on his already damaged prom. I was pretty close to killing him when a certain Valkyrie swooped in and nailed him with flares. I tried again to chase Niki and then Blue Streak but they were still running, and then Culebra tagged me, so I came about and started working on his fairly healthy prom. I tagged him good a few times, but ended up dying in a rather crowded dogfight.

Damnit I missed it again!!!

I went around tagging quite a few pilots of Serco and Itani, just piling up the damage, and only managed to destroy Lord Serco. But it just seems that Itani, with the fewest pilots, managed to elude us for what seemed like an eternity. >_<

A good battle indeed, though.

Monky, Passion and fezinator never made it. :D

To my Serco comrades, great job. We fought valiently, but were overwhelmed by numbers. As for Ghost Stalker, congrats. That was beautiful! You took our strategy to it's prefection, and with 4 people watching, and calling targets for you, you must have taken down at least 5 of 'em with you!

As for our strategy, outnumbered as we were, and with no überpilots with valks, we stuck to our hit and run strategy. Let the furball commence, and pick off what you can from it. Unfortunately, I was targetted early as the team leader, and couldn't avoid Niki and Blue Streak.

I came back with 4 out of my men still left, and stood by picking out targets for them and warning of oncoming attacks. It worked SO well, that it might almost be worth having someone just sit back and watch next event, so they can give tactical commands and advice.

Great job to the Serco team! Youguys gave such a spectacular performance, that before next week's run, I'd really like to get together a group of willing Serco to train for this. If we'd had Borb, and a couple more proms in attendance we might've bagged this one.

_ghost_ should film one of these. Or perhaps sombody who has tv out can do it with a vcr some how (no clue yet as to how) however i doubt that the video quality will be decent.

To really document this in video form, you'd need several "camerapeople" to capture all the action, and then someone to edit the footage and add commentary.

[Edit] Hmm, I wonder if the Devs could record the sector telemetry data and allow people to replay it in view-only mode, while being able to fly their vantage point around, view it from the perspective of a pilot, select ships to monitor health, etc.

Sounds like a good time I'm sorry I had to leave so soon, grats to the Yellows.

Moldy, how is the score 5/5/5 if this is only the 13th race?

/me thinks somebody forgot how to count...

Because the numbers only pertain to the restarted Nation Wars. Remember, I did hold two of these back in September.

Bleh.
Before the fight: Roda happened, I got killed for bumping into Passion (which I have no recollection of), and got brought down to 5% by Culebra (I think), all before the event started.
In the fight: I really didn't do much at the beginning, and I only got a couple kills near the end, but it was alright. I got killed just after I said something in 100 (I don't remember what).
