Nation war practice

IMHO, this nationwar finally proved that we've been taking the wrong attitude into group combat all along. We've been looking at an Allstars game, not a team effort. We quake in terror and announce our pending d00m when we see Niki or Shape in a Valk, when in reality, all you need is the proper coordination. Sure, Niki and Shape are both 3-5 times as good as the average player, but their ships aren't any better. They can't run faster, the can't dodge quicker, and they can't shoot more.

So, if any Serco care to show up, I'll be doing practice sessions for the next nation war somewhere in Sedina this week from 11:00-12:00 game-time. This week, we saw what strategy, coordination and a well balanced team could do. Sure, we lost, but we did better than anyone ever expected from a group of 6 average players outnumbered almost 4 to 1.

Even if you can't or are not going to the practice sessions this week, please announce ahead of time in this thread if you are Serco and will be flying in the next war. I'd like to get a handle on the participants so we can divy up ship assignments and the like...

It might take us a couple of weeks or a couple of months, but I, (and hopefully all good Serco who fought and fight) will rise to the task and become better players, better teammates, and better strategists through this.

Borb, that's what I'm asking of YOU, :D I'm giving you a time, (I know, it's a bad time. I can't make it any other time,) and I'm expecting as many people as can to show up.

I'll be there.

Great. So we have:

Foth, Will, Cygnus and hopefully Borb. If youguys can make it to at least some of the practices together, we'll be doing well.

I'll work on some binds so we can have the number keys assigned to quick calling and tactical commands.

The Late Lamented Holden Caulfield's HOWTO : fight big battles

(a) Start a war with a few guilds, preferably those with a lot more active members than yours

(b) Get ganked, repeatedly.

(c) ...

(d) PROFIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Ship isn't faster, but what Niki and I WILL do, is choose our targets carefully.

Unless we have a straightforward kill, there's no point in getting bogged down. Just tag em once our twice (its health they won't get back) and keep moving.

As soon as I get innanet access, Matriarch should show up to these.

Shape, are you typing blind? Or are you simply drunk?

Great Shape! It'd be nice to have you on OUR team for a bit. You can give us a ton of tactical advice, and stuff, but you'll have to promise not to use anything you learn about our tactics as Matriarch against us in nation wars.

<feeding mode="spoon" size="small">

11-12 game time is 2300-0000 GMT.

To convert game time to EST, subtract 5 hours, or 4 during DST (daylight savings time, called EDT for EST).

To convert to CST, subtract 6 hours (or 5 during DST, called CDT).

To convert to PST, subtract 8 hours (or 7 during DST, called PDT).

Most of the US uses DST now, so 2300 GMT is 1800 EDT, 1700 CDT and 1500 PDT. It will be 0100 CEST (CET+DST).

Since no one showed up today, I can either assume that everyone had the time wrong, or no one cares to show up to these things. Please inform me which one it is, so I won't be wasting my time trying tim make it.

On the subject of timing:
I think game-time IS GMT CygnusX. and it's 1100-1200, not 11pm to 12pm. Just type /time, and calculate when you need to show up to make it 1100 to 1200 GMT.

I'm posting this 1 hour, 26 minutes after the start of practices, and 26 minutes after the end of them. You could also use that as a guideline.
