This is Rialos Zaretha, Corvus News reporter, with a special bulletin:
Two months after a Corvus communications outpost intercepted a high-security communication, a new transmission has been picked up. The message was badly corrupted by a rearby ion storm, but several key phrases were deciphered:
"Compensation will be arranged ... crash the trade routes ... combat vessels ... [SKV] squadron ... planning stage ... Itani forces ... pincer movement ... Deneb-Geira Rutilus border ... full load of cargo ... take part in this assault"
The communication's origin point was determined to be an unoccupied sector deep within unaligned space, but the source of the transmission was gone before CNN investigators could reach the scene.
CNN asked Dr. Adelbert Werner Jung, sociology professor at the University of Odia (UO), for his opinion, and reached him briefly via holocomm:
"The messages seem to point to a large-scale military assault... It is my belief that they may be related to the the upcoming economic summit, when several factions will be at their weakest."
The economic summit in question is the upcoming Galactic Trade Summit, where representatives of all nations will convene to set a universally-accepted system for tying equipment and ship prices to the costs for the necessary materials to make them.

Borb's battered Moth docked in the nondescript Serco station. He smiled as his bank account grew with the selling of his carefully guarded cargo. Who would have thought he would be making money doing regular and legal trade? Certainly not him, and yet here he was.
No of course he did not need the money, but at the same time more was always nice to have, and it all served on goal or an other, besides he had a bet going with some trader, and he wouldn't want to lose to a trader even at his own game.

As Borb sat leaned back in his pilots chair as his ship drifted aimlessly in the void of space hauling yet more ore from one remote location to another. Some thing on his Informations HUD caught his eye.
It was a small news flash from the new Corvus News Network. Back in the day they used to be the Kraz New Syndicate but a few dead people later and well it had been along time since gray space had seen a good news company. Borb him self had taken a liking to CNN but he still could not help laughing out loud at this news.
Once again a big news corporation was questioning his sanity. How priceless, people like the news caster giving the report made it easy for people like Borb to take advantage of other people who though he was screwy in the head.
As always he had a plan and knew exactly what he was doing.

Ghost leaned back in his chair, tending to yet another paper cut. He had been back at Itan now for 22 days after being summoned, every one of them spent filling out paper work. With SKV taking part in some sketchy, and as the papers put it "unauthorized" activity as of late, a LOT of paper work had been piling up.
However, behind his desk, submerged in a sea of papers, word of the intercepted communication trickled down to him. Once again SKV's name had been mentioned and the context was questionable. It could mean a variety of things, but some digging around was going to have to be done if the whole message was going to be deciphered.
"Damnit," He said to himself. "This is going to mean more paperwork..."
He turned on his personal communicator and forwarded the communication to Bojan, then pulled out another, much older communicator. Ghost looked at it with a bit of nostalgia, remembering just how long ago it had been since he'd used it. It was time to find his old friends from BLAK. It had been so long since they flew together, he only hoped they were all still alive.
He turned it on with a flick of a switch. After setting the encryption, he spoke two words:
"Contact Shape."
