The history of pilot Durgia

OOC: As this Char is quite old by Vendetta standards I tried to work in previous aspects of the game which some might recognize and others not. Now this is an updated and modified version of the short bio that can be found here http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/7/1273?page=3#50360 that was made before half the things in the game exhisted but I tried to follow it somewhat and allow the char to grow into the current universe.

The door creaked open.

Durgia sat up blinking at the sudden emergence of light into the cramped dark room. He let out a weak groan as he attempted to move his muscles that were layered with bruises from previous "visits". Every time that door opened he knew what to expect, he had been stuck in this hell so long he had lost track of time and the thin sliver of light had become an object of fear all in itself.

Instinctively his mind began mental exercises to calm him and take him to somewhere else until the light once again left and he could be alone in the dark...

"Harvest will come early this year," his father commented as they walked across the soil of planet that still seemed so foreign even after three years. Durgia looked around at all the progress that the colony had made since first coming to this outpost world and felt a swelling of pride.

Then a siren blared.
***

"Well farm boy, why do you want to sign up with the Itani Defense Force?" questioned the bewildered recruitment officer, " You have never piloted a ship of any type and rarely set foot off a planet since you were born. You are not the usual recruits we get."

The officers expression changed quickly as the farm boy explained how his colony was attacked by a detachment of the Serco attack force and every body he cared about had died. In fact there were only ten survivors of the attack and so everybody he had known was now dead.

The officer looked into Durgia's eyes, " Welcome to the Itani Defense Force, Pilot Durgia."

The General walked into the small room. "We need you for this mission pilot. You are one of a very few who can easily penetrate the enemies defenses and return to tell about it," The General stated, " We need this Intel, we are supplying you with a fully equipped valkyrie to optimize your chances of success. Go to Sol II and gather the Intel and return here, be careful of the sector defenses they can be tricky."

Durgia saluted and smiled as he walked towards his new ship. He knew he could steal the secrets his nation needed, he had done it before and would be asked to do it again.

Looking around at a room entirely filled with other Generals, Durgia felt nervous as it was only a few days since his promotion. As the room fell quiet the General at the front started his speech, "This council is being convened to combat the growing problem facing Itani pilots. Everybody here is a specialist in their respective fields and I am sure we are all aware of the issues. The Itani people are facing an imminent threat if these trade routes fall. We must keep them open!"

Looking at the stars on his uniform Durgia started to formulate plans on how to accomplish the task mandated to them with as little loss of life as possible.

Looking at the dozen blips approaching on his radar Durgia knew it had been a trap. When his contact among the Serco had sent him an urgent message hinting at possible peace talks with the Serco Government, he knew it was likely a trap. As his enemies obviously knew he had no choice but to pursue any possibility of peace. With the knowledge he could not escape and could not defeat a dozen
pilots Durgia turned his ship to face the nearest Serco and hit the turbo thrusters.

The sliver of light disappeared with the loud bang of the door shutting. He was alone again, safe in the dark...

A soft knock at the door made his mind snap to attention. “Could this be a new trick? Some new way to injure his mind?”

The knock came again followed by a whisper, “You, in the cell! If your name is Durgia, I have paid the guards a lot of credits to be gone for 5 minutes. If you want to leave it may be a good time.”

He sat back and thought, this could be another trick, some way to make him reveal his contacts within the Serco population. Then again his allies may have found a way.... if they had he would only get one chance. He had to risk it.

The door swung open and light flooded the small space. The light caused a stream of terror to flow through him at first but his mental training soon blocked it out. Without another word his mysterious rescuer ran down a series of passages and Durgia struggled against his body to keep pace. Now in the light he could see the myriad of welts, bruises, and cuts displayed across his flesh.

As they entered a room that appeared to be an ore processing facility the rescuer turned, “ You got to hide in the ore crate, it'll be loaded to my ship in a few so stay quiet and I'll have you out in no time. Don't worry I was paid a massive amount of credits in advance to get you out of here I won't get caught.”

As the lid was sealed onto the ore crate the all consuming dark once again made Durgia feel safe. Safe enough to make plans. Plans that he had not dared to hope for before this moment. First he would pay back his allies that arranged for his escape and then, and then he would collect payment back from the Serco who did this to him. He would make them all pay!
