in my defense jex i was trying not to leave the ring.. its a little hard to fight 4 tanis and keep joyce from scratching the paintjob without a lot of maneuvering room, particularly when 1 of the tanis is named niki and regularly kicks my ass.

Sounds like you just need more practice in fighting within an arena

Hey, lets nerf that Smittens guy! He's way too good!
Nov 01, 2005 LeberMac link
Um. No. If ANYTHING, that Smittens guy needs serious combat help. I hear he can't aim with rails for shizzle...
Nov 02, 2005 jexkerome link
If Joyce can bag him, he needs help, not nerfing. And Joyce HAS bagged him.

Hey, Miharu bagged *UPN* yesterday.

What you talkin' about, SHAPE needing help... :P
Nov 02, 2005 jexkerome link
I was talking about Smittens, obviously.

I've a solution: we'll form a task force with the sole objective of hunting down and catching Shape. It will be a wild romp thoughout the universe, a chaotic and confusing affair involving capital ship-sized tractor beams, pulleys, nets, concussion mines, the deaths of at least ten young pilots to act as decoys, and many turret-mounted, multi-coloured searchlights to throw off his damn aim.

When we finally have have got the cat in the bag, we'll bring him, hissing and spitting, and possibly firing energy weapons at us as well, to BioCom Industries, where he will be frozen solid, and all his knowledge, traits, persona and cognitive processes uploaded to an A.I. construct. Then, while the rest of the force create a racas by bottlenecking the BioCom launch bay, one of us will just happen to slip into the cryhold, push over Shape's tube, and fracture him into thousands of hopefully harmless (it IS Shape we're talking about, after all) pieces.

Thus, Shape the pirate will be gone, but we can all benefit from his knowledge and skill by copying and mass-distributing the Shape a.i. construct. And it will all results in a happier universe for all of us, except the ten decoy pilots, who'll be dead, and Shape, who'll be... well, Shape-less.

Of course, a few years later, some enterprising technology-savant young pilot will realize the combat potential inherent in hooking the Shape A.I. up to the targetting computer in his Vulture. 50 sucessful furballs later, he thinks to himself "Wouldn't it be just neat if the construct could do my dodging and rolling for me as well?", and proceeds to connect his Shape-up™ ("The digitalized and murderous pirate friend you simply cannot do without") to this flight controls, and the rest of his ship systems, for good measure. A few months later, UIT authorities find the body of the young pilot, ejected through his own cargo hatch, and his ship nowhere to be found.

And in an seemingly empty sector somewhere in deep space, Ion the freelancing cargo runner, coward for hire and scallywag, drops his cup of hot, add-only-a-drop-of-water-and-the-cube-will-expand (perfect for those long flights in the coldness of grey space) cocoa, rushes to the HUD of his Corvus Marauder, and stares in horror at the radar read-outs. A ship, appearing out of a scanned and reportedly empty asteroid field, is fast approaching, and Ion knows he should fire up his boosters and get the hell outta there. But all he can do is stare at the readings of his scanner, showing him the identifier of the man who once taught him how to dodge energy fire and aim without turning. The man he helped hunt down, cryo-freeze, and doom to an eternity in solitary digital torment. The scanner finishes it's sweep, beeps one last time, and returns it's final results.

/me does time for bringing back old threads with a stupid question that probably won't be answered

Spell, was it you who I often heard say "Eldrad could kill you in an unarmed cargo box?"

And I've almost beaten Shape and Eldrad! So nya nya everyone.

thread necromancer!!!

and the actual quote was something more along the lines of "Eldrad could find a way to kill you in an unarmed cargo box"

not that he would neccesarily do so every time...

Oddly enough, devs and guides can fly cargo crates...

How'd you find my inquery so quickly!? Do you daily do a search for "Spellcast" to see if any new threads with you have come up?
Aug 14, 2006 Spellcast link
heh, no i just jump through general, suggestions, role-playing and off-topic once or twice a day when i have a moment (usually when i get home from work at.. gee imagine that, around 4:30 -5:00 PM board time, like today) and take a look at any threads from the current day that catch my fancy.

This one did because i knew it was an old thread and wanted to know what idiot ressurected it.
(i gave you the benefit of the doubt and didnt assume you had bumped it just because yours was the most recent post, you COULD have been chastisng whomever had bumped it. Of course you weren't, you yourself were the foul thread necromancer in question)

yes shape is rocket bait in a rocket rag :D. An enjoyable fight to watch was when I was watching shape and eldrad fight in b-8.

on another note leber and smittens can't fight no matter what ship their in so they probably could use with maybe an aim-bot. :)

Bumped because it seems to be being brought up by other people as a viable "balancing" change.
