UI bug configuring ship groups

Mar 05, 2012 [Gadget] link
I'm sitting in the ship configuration screen on the groups page and there's a cosmetic bug with the Group buttons near the top.

I have my group selectors set to joystick buttons, and the six buttons at the top of the screen for me say:

"JOY1BUTT" "JOY1BUTT" "ey <none"
"ey <none" "ey <none" "ey <none"

I would suggest that if the groups aren't bound to traditional single-character keys (I know they're "1", "2", "3", "4", "5", "6" by default) that the buttons simply display "Wpn 1", "Wpn 2", etc.

It depends on what your screen resolution is set to also. If I play on my CRT monitor like I usually do, these buttons get squashed and cut off part of their text. On my TV at 1920x1080, everything fits just fine.

Thanks for the report. The "key <none>" text should indeed say something else, such as "Group 1", etc...

What resolution are you using? Like ARF says, changing screen resolution or changing the in-game font size may fix the problem too.

1680x1050.

It doesn't really make it unusable in any way. I'm familiar with the layout form the default keyboard setup, so I can still set my groups up like I want.

I just think it looks pretty crufty.

Also note that in my original report, the first two groups actually say the same thing. They don't show enough of the control name to even discern which joystick button is tied to which group. (Yes, I agree, if you don't know that yourself, stay out of the INI file.)

Sometimes when I go into the screen, the buttons still appear exactly as above. At other times, The group buttons autosize and you can read the full text of each button (that isn't stomped on by overlap.)

Yeah, that's IUP being difficult, sometimes resizing controls based on the text inside and sometimes not.
