You need to run the updater before you can connect. Do not directly run the binary.

Just running vendetta should be enough.
When you run it does a window open that says it's updating vendetta or something like that? It will have the buttons on the bottom that allow you to actually start playing vendetta.

Did you just install Vendetta within a couple days ago?
Hmm. The mirrors are not up to date either which could be a problem. Vendetta should try to update itself before you can even start logging in to play.

On Linux there's 2 binaries with the name vendetta. One is
~/.vendetta/vendetta
and one is somewhere in your path but is actually a copy of update.rlb

you have to start the one that is somewhere in your path, NOT the one in the .vendetta directory.

A bit confusing it is...
