client / server disagreements on hits.
I suppose this is well known, but with the appropriate lag you can often see a shot "hit" (with the splash effect and all) but the target doesn't loose armor and you don't get the "bleep"-you-hit-someone-sound.
with ammobased weapons without proximity, this is annoying to no end. you see yourself hitting the target over and over and over again, but, well, he's just happy. a week or so ago I hit a Warthog with approximatly 45 rail shots before it died. and unless someone has access to a 'Hog with around 63000 armor, well, something was up.
I suppose this is a protocol issue that is hard to avoid, but is there any way to make this noticable for the one being "hit", to show that "okay, there is lag going on"? in duels, it'd be nice for both players to see that you might want to deal with lag before continuing the duel.
also, when lag was at its worst a while back, I hit someone and it took a full two seconds for the damage to register and the sound to beep.

There's not really much the server can do if you have 2000ms ping... Just remember, the other guy's in the exact same situation as you.
what I think is even more annoying than hitting someone and not doing damage is when someone else lags and you suddenly take 30% damage while their jumping around means you don't get any useful hits.
if they are jumping around it might also be that you are lagging, don't forget that please
well considering that after the laggy fight, I typed /ping and got 64/64/0, I'd say it probably wasn't me. And I had my network activity monitor on at the time, so I can see if my up or down streams drop to zero at any point. It wasn't me.
So it's a bug? What a pity! I thought I had the force :/
Seriously, I'd like to see a ping limit for duels, like you have a ping limit on ICC for tournaments. You would be able to fight anyone with a crappy ping, but not engage in a recorded duel.

what I want isn't a cure or a "point the blame" thing, what I want is the client that thinks it hit someone tell that to the other client so both sides _know_ that lag happened.
heh this happens also: u you duel a scumbag and u get hit with a neutblast and it makes sound and the green vapor on your HUD but not flashing red. No hit then, but i know i wasl lucky with my ping there, so it can turn both ways
