standing and damnage

Mar 28, 2005 macguy link
I was playing with my girlfriend recently who is also itani. It turns out, if we bumped into each other in an orion station(where i am admired and she is not) i can damage her.She got a warning about being under protection of orion. We went to an empty sector(in uit space) and we bumped into each other again, she till did damnage! She also go no warning. She is only respected by uit i am admired. Has anybody else seen this??(please note i can only damnage by physical contact not wepons fire... at least so far, i havent tried mines or missiles just energy weps)

Umm, i wa just ramming her. It doesnt matter the ship, she was getting warnings and all. I was in a centaur she was in a wraith. Dont see how the ship should matter. We wheren't in a group either.

Holy crap i was just on my girlfriends account and bumped into her ship in itani space and i can do damnage and it gives a warning to her saying that she is attacking me(she was on my account). We are both admired. Did something change i'm not aware of like friendly impact damnage?

It may matter quite a bit which ship you each had. You are focusing exclusively on standing, but as near as I can tell from your posts the effects of standing are inconclusive. I'm not trying to offend you when I say that your sentence structure makes it difficult to understand what you are trying to describe - as does your resistance to my questions.

It appears that you are saying that her ship can damage yours (although this is contradicted in your first post?) and whoever is flying her ship gets a warning when they are in protected space, but that your ship may or may not take damage...

So I guess your question is whether there has been a change in friendly impact damage, but then there is the issue of your relative standings - which I'm not sure is relevant to the question.

Ramkills don't affect your stadning anyway. The problem is probably just that bogus warning. I get it all the time too.

We where both in itani space, both admired by itani. Reguardless of what ship i used, we could hurt each other by ramming. (not warp killing, just bumpnig into each other)No standing loss is happening. And sometimes it tells the person getting hit about the person ramming being protected, or vice versa.

Is this due to something changing with how collisions are handled. So even two people in their home nation, admired by their home nation can hurt each other?(although location shouldn't matter). FM sorry about my crappy sentence structure. It's ok i'm not insulted at all :) At least mr spuck has experinced this too. Maybe he could explain it better it need be.

You can damage any ship by ramming. Intersting enough the ramming damage "system" is rather backwards as far as I remember it operating. The ship going the greater speed receives more damage, while a near immobile ship tends to recieve no damage.

Ship type can significantly affect the amount of damage recieved/delt however it doesn't eliminate the damage 100%. And yeah, standing doesn't get altered by ramming damage.

I'm not sure how ramming damage should be handled, but I can attest that it is nothing like what it was before release. Almost a polar opposite, excluding the standing part.

Setting off a temp KOS or getting the escorts to fire on you should not be triggered by bumping the capship. The thing moves too fast to effectively dock anyway. give the player some leeway.
