transmissible navroutes

May 11, 2005 ArAsH link
I'm positive that this has been posted before, but I couldn't find it, so sorry for the double post.

Would it be hard to make navroutes transmissible, with commands like /navroute send "playername" and /navroute accept.
This would make escort duties a lot easier, and would make it less complicated for newer players to join an escorted convoy.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this was part of the plan when navroutes were first created. I'd still love to see it.

In the meantime, I've been thinking of setting up a section in the wiki for players to post the navroutes they use most in.

I'd also like to see /navroute delete, but that's just me. sure, I can go into the filesystem, but it feels kinda iffy.

sorry to be all anti-, but is it really that hard to say to someone "hey, i got this great route, from dau d11, to rhamus g4, you should try it"

is it that hard?

it is when you're escorting a few moths with multiple fighters and you all need the same jump-in points. Allso when someone joins the party, it's verry handy if you could just send him the route instead of typing all the waypoints in your chatbox *again* (i don't like to type ;). Its allso easier for newer players to stick with the convoy this way, and don't we all want easy to use and therefore more enjoyable games? So, to answer your question, yes! :)

Any route w/ more than about 3 waypoints would be a massive pain to send even once, doing it one waypoint at a time, especially as the recipient would have to type in /navroute clear; navroute add WP-1; navroute add WP-2; navroute add WP-3, etc.

What I would like to see:
/navroute send ["<player name>"|group|guild|sector] - sends your current navroute to the specified player, or to everyone in your group, guild, or sector. Each player you send to gets a message displayed on their screen "<Player name> has sent you a navigation route." Sector by itself could be used to send to all players in the sector, or could be combined w/ group or guild, to only send to players in your group or guild who were in the same sector as you.

/navroute receive ["<player name>"] - clears any current navroute, and loads the most recent navroute sent to you by the specified player, or the most recent navroute sent to you by anyone if "<player name>" is left out.

And I finally got around to creating that Navroute page in the VO-wiki. See it, add to it, at http://www.vo-wiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Navroutes

If there was some sort of exploration part of the game, like venturing off into new systems, explorers could come back and download their new maps into a nation-specific database of maps. Or I'm having delusions of granduer...

An exploration system is something that is planned. The backstory describes wormholes as being cyclical, they'll be open for some time, and then closed, and then open again. Eventually the devs plan on having a system where we could discover new wormholes & new systems. I think I remember Incarnate saying once that the size of the universe in Vendetta Online is potentially unlimited.
