low-level weapons, yet again.
okay, I know this is a common thing, but it really needs to be addressed again. right now there are a lot of S-port weapons, half of which are useful, and until the plasdev, nothing in the L-port that's useful for what newbies need -- botting and PVP against equals. the Stingray is a turret-killer and queen downer, that's about what it's useful for...
first off, at heavy 2 I suggest a dumbfire rocket, stats about so:
500kgs
20 ammo
650 damage
20m prox
500 force for 30 meters or so
1.5 second refire
65m/s
this'll be a gentle introduction to rockets. you also get something before plasdevs to use for botting.
I'd also like to see the S-port flares have their ammo reversed, so you could choose between damage or ammo, but not both. maybe give them 20-15-10 or so, sunflares getting 10 ammo. this'd make the lowlevel S-port flares usable for botting, and we should probably start offering them around light weapons 2 or so, not at 4/5/2 like now, where you get iceflares after you get N2s.

low-level weapons. sure. go kill 10 queens to get a newbie-weapon. uhm, no, don't think so. =)

Heh, with an alt I actually went after the MegaPosi, and got the Queen Hunter badge, before I met the license requirements for it. It requires Combat 2, so it is still pretty low, but it does have license requirements, as well as requiring the badge.
But anyway, with that alt, I have a higher heavy weapon license than light weapon. So I would say that it *is* viable to kill 10 Queens to get a low-level L-port weapon. But I wouldn't be opposed to having more options along with the MegaPosi.

Beolach, while it's completely viable for experianced players with a low level alt, it's not a reasonable expectation of newbs (either to do it alone or require all of them to find someone to help them do it so they can get a useful L port).
