Bot AI & rockets

How tough would it be to make bots aware of rockets? Right now, I'm strafing up, the bot's strafing up to follow me, I fire rockets above it, it keeps strafing up right into them. Would be much better if they were intelligent enough to try to dodge.

my personal favorite idea is that the bots see rockets as a threat, but know they'll just respawn, so they take out the rocket efficently. especially if there are lots of rockets, the bot tries to ram them all at once. "I can die, but you will never get us all!" or something like that.

but yeah, it would be "interesting" if bots started to dodge rockets, but, uhm, I'm not sure I'm ready to deal with a queen if that happens. with three or more assaults on you, you die really fast if you try do dogfight. if one removes the rocket option, a lot of players will turn to backrolling against bots, especially prosus and up... and that won't be much fun either.

I'm guessing they do see the rockets. They just don't react quickly enough to avoid the proximity. With energy weapons they tend to do one of two things: 1. Dodge at the last second. Or 2. let the first one or two shots hit, and then dodge. This was probably done to make botting easier.

The problem with rockets is that they have a proximity detonator and the delay between shots would be interpeted as burst fire. This makes killing bots really easy with the AI they have now. So I agree, this needs to be fixed. But how? Who knows. They'll need to somehow identify rockets.

On a side note, they seem to have a crazy trick that allows them to boomerang Geminis back at you. I don't know how they do it but I'd really like to know. 'Cause it looks like they've got some type of missile jammer or something. If not, wow! It's pretty crazy how they do it. I have yet to see a player fool a missile like that.
