An 8 hour demo isn't Enough!

I resently bought a muiti game pack from stratigy frist: 6+1 combat pack. I'd like to say that the other games in the pack where sub par compard to this game. I played Vendetta after searching the web to find out how to get a log on name ( that was a pane in the bottom ) because there was no info on or in the box about Vendetta, but the web sight was not difficalt. Thank you i hate crappy web sights. I got on and did the start turtoral and it was very nice. I like the step by step of it all. I then did the the scrape mission and it was challenging to say the least. I spent so much time on it and didn't stop until i was done about 5 hours or so and it wasn't that fun since i was new and could only use 2 types of ships, but i understand that now. I did the mining mission next and finished and was infromed that i only had 2 hours left, that made me sad because i hadn't even got hook yet. I have a few sudgestions about your demos in the future.

1: I think that the inbox demos should be at least a week or like the download version, 30 days. The more time you give a new player the more likely they will get hooked.

2: I think that it should come with a temporrary log in name that is an ungraded acount with more ships and credits and weapons to help show the new player what there is to look forward to. This account would expirer and when they get the full version and there own acount they would have to start at the beggining.

3: The home base that you first start out in should be the busyist base for each rase so that they see alot more people online and know that all these other people have payed the monthly fee to play this game and insures them that it is worth it. When i played ( with my limitid time ) I only saw 3 people. I didn't go through the wormhole yet but this way they could find a mintor easyier or at least have some poeple to chat with or get tips. In short a more exciting starting point for an upgraded account.

4: More in box or on box info like a web sight link and log in name ( for upgraded account) Insted of looking for it online and inputting info for a log on name, lots of people wouldn't try that hard just to try out a game. You want to intiss the new consumer not piss them off with a bunch of bull just to try out the game. NOT to say that you guys don't already know that because i know you already do, but you asked for input!

5: An upgraded account should have like 5 ships with weapons included and an upgraded license and maybe a mining ship w/beam and scaner. Maybe one of eack type of ships and should be able to look at all the other types but not buy them. This would be cool because then a new consumer could just go out and explor the univers and tare it up a bit. That would get them hook for sure and egger to run out and pay for the game right away. An 8 hour demo with no prevaleges is quit boring.

I really hope that this will help you fellows to get more people hooked on this game. I hope that to make an upgraded acount isn't to hard to make and it should expirer so a player cant continue with all thoughs upgrades. The main point is that to start with nothing asnd only have 8 hours to play dose not do the game justice to new players and no in box info about a web sight or how to log in is a deturnt to new players even to try out your wonderful game.

I really like the look of the game after looking at alot of the stuff online about it and hope to be playing in the future. I also think that you should include your demos in more and better game packs.

If you bought the box, you got 30 days free. You just needed to plug in the code from your CD case (I think). However, GS has nothing to do with those 6+1 deals, which are just Strategy First being annoying. There's not much Guild can do about the problems, methinks.

1. The eight hour demo was enough for me to get hooked, but I guess it varies. And since when did the download run for 30 days!?

2. That sounds like a good idea, but maybe they get good access until like 5 deaths?

3. I'm sure the devs have some magic stat, but I'm not sure how one would pick the busiest nation sector. Apart from Border Patrol areas, it seems pretty lifeless.

4. What's fun about not getting to pick your login name?

5. See 2

When you download the game you get 8 hours of in-game time. But buying the game gives you a free 1 month subscription.

I agree they should extend the 8 hour trial too (maybe 24 hours?).

The Vendetta "hook" works as follows.

1) WHOAMG COOL (++)
2) Where the hell is everyone (-)
3) What am I supposed to do (-)
4) This game sucks (-)
5) *B8'd and hive and stuff* (++)
6) *combat mastery GET* (++)
7) *fully integrated into community* (+)

The problem is that currently we have stages 2 through 4.

More content will solve 3 and 4, and with the mission editor, that'll take a couple months at most, hopefully.

With more content and stage 3/4 out the way, the trial can be extended quite a bit- eliminating stage 2, and creating a kickass all-round game.

HOWEVER- extending the trial prematurely means that players finish the trial in stage FOUR, not stage TWO or THREE. Meaning they are LESS likely to pay for the game, and whilst this may solve 2, 3 and 4 get more attention.

Eventually, it will become;

1) This looks ok [graphics become slightly outdated]
2) Sweet! [first combat experience]
3) COOL! [hive/missions/content/crafting/stuff]

If you're still reading, I pity you for having to sit through this much crap.

8 hours is enough for a trial.

I got hooked just by what I did in those 8 hours... it's a "trial" and is supposed to make you want more.

I was hooked in the first hour...but I had been looking for a space game with strong ties to Privateer (back in the day) and would work well with Mac. Also have spent many an month with EV override.

when better missions are added which they sure as heck better be soon, the getting hooked in 8 hours will be way easier cause lets face it, the missions for the most part at this time suck, except maybe the BP mission, the trade guild and that one spy mission where you fight the weirdo but combat training , that one where the bloody contaminated bot always blows up , mining and the scrap metal ones are kinda lame but since they have a mission editor some really cool stuff should start happening now and make it easier to keep and attract more newbs

Ya know, when I was a n00b (please refrain from the "when" jokes..lol)
I found the 8 hour trial enough to get hooked. And what we don't see is that there is a LOT to do for a n00b. We've done it all (except the prospecting missions, those of you who have are NUTS!) and that's why we don't like it. I had a couple of months under my belt before I left for b8...don't really remember the last time I was in Itaniville...hmmmm

ahhh, the good ol days...

I think maybe 12 hours would be more appropriate... 24 is too much.

valid point numero uno, I believe, si the website design... we really need some more snazzy gimmicks, more information, and maybe even a game trailer video? to get people to look more into it and like what they see.
