Yah, Zamzx Zik, Axia offers the Axia Guardian Wraith with enough faction and licenses.

Beolach, just because the moth stopped YOU from using other ships to trade and mine does not mean that everyone has. I still mine in my Agresso and just use the Moth to transport the goods to the final destination. I also use the Atlas X-Type for mining is dangerous territory.

I really like the Mining Rag idea, but if that were implemented I'd like to see a higher level mining beam that works in the small port, perhaps like the io-pahse or deni-phase but with half of the intake rate and heat. That way you can mine with 4 beams and 1 scanner. The small mining beam is nothing more then a newbie training beam as far as I'm concerned. If you do the mining tutorial you imediately get the MkII which is large so what's the point.

With all ship designed there is always the 0 model, or prototype. IMO that's what we are all flying when it comes to the Behemoth. We now need to specialize it and nerf parts to make if fit nitches.

Mining - Drop armor, Add small port, possibly decrease cargo capacity.
Transport - Not much is needed, perhaps a small decrease in speed or make it non-infiboost.
Combat - Incrase manuverability, drop armor, add small or large port.

moth varients I'd like to see:

MKII - heavy moth (mining)
Cons: slower, poorer turning, slightly less armor.
Pros: small port (still 2 large), 150 cargo. (infiniboost)
(rationale: ideal for hauling cargo or mining... as long as it's in friendly space. decreased speed makes it a hard target to miss, even empty, and decreased armor makes it easier to kill)

MKIII - Light Moth (blockade running)
Cons: Less armor, 80 cargo
Pros: faster, more meneuverable (infiniboost)
(rationale: giving up considerable cargo space and armor allows you to run from just about anything, but you won't last long if you make a mistake and let them get too close, or try to fight)

MKIV - Armored Varient (combat)
Cons: 100 cargo, non-infiniboost (55 drain), req heavy weaps 7
Pros: 3 L-ports, slightly better maneuverability
(rationale: The moth that can defend itself... in fact, has to, because the lack of infiniboost makes it very difficult to run, given it's sub-standard accel. a favorite for the pilot with a fetish for mines... or the miner with a death wish (3 L-port mining beams... but then, how will you survive?))

EDIT: and unlike most ship varients, all of the moth varients would see use after more become available, keeping a lot of variation... each has it's place.

Yes, I definitely think that the Warthog Mineral Extractor is superfluous in the mining sense. It should thus be renamed to Warthog CrippledPidgeon Combat Special to give it new purpose.
