NFZ Hud Notification.

I think it should be displayed on the Hud constantly, in station sectors, if you're in the NFZ or not instead of only being able to find out about it if you fire you're weapon, therefore unable to check again unless you jump in and out of the sector.

A very good idea, ST. I'd even support HUD overlays that show, in 3-D space, exactly what the borderline for the NFZ is.

Make it a graphic option - "Show NFZ Protection Areas" toggleable.

Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes.

I disagree. It makes it seem more artificial. "By the way, you, you're out of the No Fire Zone so you're free to do as you wish!" Maybe for Corvus stations.

I was just thinking along the lines of Hud notification like FA is doing right now, but perhaps later there could be markers or something around the station to give it more of a story.

Just don't put it near the damn crosshairs.

Great idea.

To avoid the "artificial feeling", instead of being a warning label or something, it could be the distance from the sector station, if any.

I'd guess that deepspace floating stations do have radio beacons, and would be extremely wise to lock on such beacon to know how far you are from it.

The indirect information would be "I'm/I'm not in the NFZ", masked as flight data.

Well, only if it becomes a NFZ violation to fire into the NFZ.
As it is now, I think you can sit outside it and fire away at anyone inside it...

Nope we tested that theory, you sit outside the NFZ and fire into it, and hit someone, the sf comes out after ya :)

But something to alert you where it is would be kinda nice without having to fire a weapon to see if you get a warning

Maybe artificial, but something that is absolute basic with regard to implementation. Heck, this kind of technology exists today. As most people know, airspace around airports is restricted, and you need clearance to enter it. My (5 years old) Garmin GPS not only alerts me when I'm entering restricted airspace, but before that it warns me that if I contiunue on the present speed and heading that I'll be entering airspace in 5 (and then in 2) minutes (it'll also pop up the Info and Tower frequencies). If we can do it in small planes today, I'm sure a tiny subsystem in your space ship can monitor if you are inside or outside the NFZ. It would be sufficient to put a small yellow or red dot next to your weapons indicator. A ship that is inside the NFZ and locked onto your targeting system can also have a yellow dot in the upper left target bracket to indicate it's inside NFZ.

I agree with everything but the "...next to the weapons indicator".
How about a red tint on the weapon icons?
