High-Efficiency Mining Beam

Aug 27, 2008 igrok link
Overheated asteroids constantly plague miners. For those that can sacrifice mining speed, the high-efficiency beam provides the best solution.

By utilizing the technology of the High-Density Mining Beam and significantly restricting mining range, the High-Efficiency Mining Beam greatly reduces waste heat.

High-Efficiency Mining Beam
Port: Small
Range: 25m
Rate: 0.5

I think this is a good idea, although raise the Mining license requirement to level 10 because we don't want newbies getting a hold of our special technologies, now do we?
No, this beam should only be for experienced miners. Instead of the Mater Prospector as a requirement, create a mission tree for when you hit Mining level 10.

Suggestion for Mission: (Available at all mining stations)

Header:
Build the High-Density Mining Beam

Description:
You have mined profitably and helped sustain the general economy to the extent you have achieved Mining License Level 10. This in itself is a great achievement for which you should be congratulated, but now, you have been granted the privilege to order High-Efficiency Mining Beams direct from our factory. Collect just a few items for us and we will create the Beam for you.

List of Items:
3x Ion Core
1x Orun Processor Core
2x Plasma Core
10x Premium Carbonic Ore

You will receive: 3 High-Efficiency Mining Beams.

EDIT: Change the Mining Range to 40m

I think this thread has been bumped enough times ;)

My guess is that this doesn't fit in with the plans for the new ores and universe changes. Or maybe the devs think mining is already easy enough...
