Corvus Greyhound (Interceptor-class Warthog)

Sorry, need an L port. 2 L-ports would do even better, but definitely need one. You are proposing none.

Raptors are also "new" ships, currently sold by TPG, which is mostly found in places pirates generally don't like hanging out.

Also Hogs have that cheap cobbled together from bits of scrap feel, which IMO a pirate ship should have. Raptors just feels all sleek and new. Something a VPR could use to intercept interceptors, given an appropriate variant. Oh look, there is a thread on that already:

Yeah, I made that thread Antz. :D

And yes, its funny that you mentioned that because that's exactly what I was thinking last night. An anti-interceptor interceptor. I think with this role, the Raptor might actually gain some respect.

Back to Lecter's Warthog-- yup, it makes sense as a pirate ship, something Corvus would reconfigure. You got my vote.

(stamp of approval)

As long as the greyhound doesn't LOOK like a Warthog, I'm all for it. Although, I'd rather see SOMETHING ingame instead of nothing.

Can I haz new ship modelz?

Hey, no hating on the best looking pirate ship in the game!

I'm all for an update on the Hog's appearance. How about something like this?

Lol! how about the devs don't get sued for copying BSG? :p

though in all honestly, apart from the physical similarity, the Hog is no Viper. Hog is heavy and not that maneuverable... while the Viper would put the valk to shame.

of course, the Viper can't jump and needs to be launched from a cappie...

The Hornet is basically a dedicated pirating ship. It boasts infiniboosting, easily enough firepower to bring down multiple ships with (energy efficient) rockets, and a decent cargo hold to boot. Its weaknesses are only in acceleration, turning, and maneuvering, none of which are very important for hitting trade ships.

Actually, the acceleration is pretty fucking critical for hitting trade ships before their pilot hits "u," automagically knows everyone that's in the sector, and instantly responds to your presence by starting the short run to 3000m.

That said, a hornet with enough turbo thrust could surely fill the interceptor role. I just have a weakness for megaposi hogs, which is why I proposed this.

Added, now in the game.

Bam!

WOOHOO!

Thank you, Incarnate :D

Heheh, sure. A good idea, and worth a shot. Let's hope I don't pay for it with too much drama.

My only concern, really, is the infiniboost. But, I'll leave it nerfless awhile and we'll see how it's used.

Once Unaligned/Corvus is an available faction, maybe some faction-only restrictions would help limit potential abuse.

Gratz Hannibal.

People seem to really like this thing. Its almost certain to be banned in the Deneb Run. =^p

Agreed, this would be an excellent example of a Corvus/unaligned-specific ship, when those changes occur of course.

I can't believe that we got a new rust bucket esp when areas like trade is so broken it's unreal. Good luck in catching those non-existing traders because they are not logged in, they are doing other things outside the game hoping things will get fixed so they can come back in and do stuff.

Still, I imagine that creating a new variant of the Warthog is a near to trivial matter compared to fixing the trade/mining etc. systems. And a new ship is something that everybody can see immediately which is very nice! Even I will probably buy one, albeit one with a scanner and a heal gun:)

Plus, the 'hog needs some love. :)

I've used the GreyHound in some circumstances, and yes, I lost to a normal Hog, so there is its disadvantage, but I couldn't catch up to my opponent. Not fast enough anyway, increase the thrust by about 25-50..
