I'm not sure if that's entirely balanced, but do give feedback :)

Please post comparative Rag III stats; thanks.

Why anyone would mine in ANYTHING with less than 48 cu of space is beyond me.

But, I haven't mined for coin since 4434, so...

For the Ports!!!
Look at the ports!
Strip Mining potential here!

EDIT: Posted Rag III Stats in comparison to mine.

That's actually pretty well balanced, I think.

Sure. If anyone tried to do quadchaos spam with this thing, they'd be ran over by any other non-EC ship..(on the other hand, It'd make a kick-ass megaposi platform for WH camping convoys)

Well, it's truly a miner, because
1) It can't run
2) its ports
3) it's very heavy
4) i forgot.

I like it... although I'm never, ever going to use it, besides for swarm spamming, just for the hell of it.

Once new ship models are not a distant glimmer in the murk of day-to-day problems, an entirely new type of ship could be introduced, basically a tugboat/miner combination.

I like mining in the rag 3. What we really need is a less efficient L and S port mining beam with really high heat. It takes far too long to cook a roid to 50,000k

Suggestion:

Corvus Roaster Mk I:

Port: S
Range: 100 m (Same as basic mining beam)
Rate: 0.1 (1/10th that of basic mining beam)
Heat: 50 (about 50x the Advanced Mining Beat)
Rate/Heat: .002 (Really low)
Mass: 500 kg (Same as all other beams)
Level: 0/0/0/0/1 (Same as basic heavy mining beam)

Corvus Heavy Roaster Mk I:

Port: L
Range: 100 m (Same as basic mining beam)
Rate: 0.1 (1/10th that of basic mining beam)
Heat: 500 (about 500x the Advanced Mining Beat)
Rate/Heat: .002 (Really low)
Mass: 500 kg (Same as all other beams)
Level: 0/0/0/0/1 (Same as basic heavy mining beam)

As you can tell, the performance of these beams are actually a bit lower than any of the ones currently in the game, so these shouldn't cause any problems with balance or anything.

Somewhere long ago I suggested roid broiling beams as a weapon for scorched-earth economic warfare.

Basically, [TGFT] got a lot of itchy, itchy sand in its vagina at the idea and it went nowhere.

It's way too handicapped for the exchange of two small for 1 large port and a bit of extra cargo space. Make the mass 22,000. Make the armor 15,000.

Did you miss the part where we said this was intended for mining?

why the hell not. sure, let's add this. maybe a little more cargo... but then again I don't mine. I have no qualms putting this in-game.

how about this: since its only potential use is strip mining, we add HE potential, but still make it completely useless for hives, and maybe even make the requirement Miner IV; with only 5K armor and a whopping 27000kg, no one in their right mind would use it for a stack or any kind of military operation :
