Lock threads in which the OP continually bumps

Its irritating and it shoves other new ideas down the list. If an idea is not well received, there is no call to jam it back in the top spot. If the Devs like it, or presumably enough players like it... it will make it in game, SOON™. If not, let the idea die with some dignity and move on to the next idea.

It is irritating, but so is over-moderation of forums. I think this particular issue is best handled through community disapproval. Most people who have been around a few months are educated enough by the community to avoid such behavior.

Bump.

I wondered who would do that first... (bump this thread not shun Strat) however Strat, a poster other than the OP bumping a thread is a different case. In the case of a non OP bump it is generally because the person finds it a good idea but has nothing to add.

In the case of the OP bumping the thread just to get it back up to 1st notch because since it hasn't yet been implemented, the developers obviously have not seen it, because despite it being hated by the player base, its clearly the best idea ever and would be put in if only the devs had seen it! I understand what Whistler is saying but I disagree with how educated the people who do this are and I question their ability to become educated over time.

sometimes things to get missed in the shuffle, and their bumping helps get them in-game. I've seen this happen more than once.

But yah... if people hate it and someone keeps bumping, it'll get locked (most likely). Otherwise, who cares?

Really? Please provide an example of an idea that was missed here and then was found an implemented because of a bump.

"missed" might not be the appropriate term, but rather "had fallen off the front page" might be better. The only recent example I remember is my own (I don't tend to remember other people's self-bumps).

However, there are plenty of threads which just get lost in the shuffle that could use some bumping (self or otherwise), including a simple change which doesn't often get people excited, or a thread which died prior to what I believe to be a thoughtful debate (however, it was contentious enough that I'm not going to bump it). All I'm saying is that sometimes it's a useful tool.

No danger of that happening on these forums.

I kind of know what you are saying ryan, but to be honest, the only fix would be a new forum, or at least a major update/re-write of the current one. For instance how many times have you posted +1 to a thread for that +1 to go unnoticed? Well if the suggestion forum had a rating feature, with the ability to sort by most recent/most talked about/highest ranked then it would not be an issue, as threads that were not liked on the whole could easily be dismissed. But alas, that is for another thread.

The current forum is just clunky - but it does do (on the whole) what guild need it to do - provide user feedback. Just be glad that a) this game has a dev team that does listen, and if the idea fits within their design goals, they impliment user ideas often, and b) have a dev team that don't try to impliment every single suggestion posted by alloh (or every idea) :) oh and c) keep candies in closet because that is where monster is.

It's sort of cyclic, though. The noisier the forums get with bumps and +1 parades, the more a need to "prevent things from getting lost" is perceived. The squeaky wheel, etc, I suppose, but that doesn't make in not annoying.

Eh i've decided.

-1

Takes too much time away from making the game or engine as a whole, better.

I think yoda just won three threads in a row by the AVP.

That is very interesting...

BUMPing a idea is bad, even ones with positive feedback, while

Trolling, unrelated posting, personal aggressions, ofense, stupid competition, bad words usage and other unpolite behaviour is good?

Maybe Guild Software should update the forum rules with the real rules, instead of the good looking ones!

-The inner circle members can do whatever they can
-Newbies are welcome as food for trolls
-We welcome new ideas, but only if they are equal to ours.
* BE NICE, but only if you are newbie *

Oh yeah, there's a totally different set of forum rules that's enforced against you, Alloh.

Who are you kidding? Any self-respecting board would delete your posts and ban your IP to clean up the illiterate clutter you create.
