Live Mission Center

It would be neat if human players could create their own missions to let other people go on. Of course, complicated missions (e.g. find CEO) wouldn't work to well, but simple missions (e.g. return 10 scrap metal crates) would work well. The employer would be able to set the pay, which would be rewarded upon return of the item(s). This would give the game a larger sense of them changing the universe, and could also help lazy people (me) acquire items to trade without having to travel far.

I agree. The trick will be writing a non-abusable mission creator. No doubt they'll come up with something good.

Guilds could use the missions for entrance requirements and other endeavors.

Also, it'd be a really good way to prototype prebuilt missions in the game. Just go in, write the mission, try it out for a while, see if people like it, and if so, make it a permanent addition to the mission list.

There's no reason it wouldn't work for more complicated missions tho. The requirements are entirely set by who wrote it. You just have to prove to them you did it. If it's getting some cargo, that's easy--delivery of the cargo is the proof. For anything else, you'd need some form of proof. Maybe scanning the CEO/whatnot could produce a scan record, and that's the tangible goods you deliver?

Damn, now THERE'S an idea--you get an actual tangible cargo of the scan record--and someone else gets the mission to PROTECT the rendevous by destroying the ship that scanned the CEO and retrieving the cargo!

OK, scrap ALL of that, what we REALLY need is a scripting language so we can just start implementing all of this in-game :) I vote for Lua :)
