Feb 02, 2006 Screwball link
EnB and TGFT will again be hosting The Deneb Run this weekend.

***** The TIME is up for a vote, though. We've had the race at 12:01 AM GMT Sunday for a couple of weeks, and some people are requesting that it be moved back to 2 AM GMT. Please reply to this thread with your preference.

Check /time if you are confused about GMT.

*** New VO Client not-allowed due to battery exploit ***

All citizens are welcome to race, there is no entrance fee, and 4 Million credits in prizes are available. Some of it could be yours!

Once again, the rules are:

1) Racers must race from Odia M14 through Deneb heading clockwise back to Odia M14.
2) Race starts in Odia M14 near the station.
3) Contestants must be within 100m of me before the start
4) No shooting before I start the race.
5) You die and you're out (so no /exploding)
6) All weapons and ships allowed, except those listed in #10.
7) First person to get back and dock at Odia M14 wins the first prize. (2 million credits)
8) Second person back gets 2nd place prize (1.2 million credits)
9) Third person back gets 3rd place prize (800k credits)
10) No Valkyries allowed.
11) Racers must use the standard VO client, not the new one in testing.
12) If there are at least 3 racers, and less than 3 racers complete The Deneb Run, the undistributed prize money will be awarded to those who killed the racers as follows:
- The most recent kill gets the highest unawarded prize
- The 2nd most recent kill gets the second highest unawarded prize
- etc.

Example: If 1 racer finishes, the player that had the last kill of a racer will receive a 1.2 million credit prize, and the player that had the 2nd most recent kill would receive 800k credits.

I believe this is a good way of saying thanks to those who help spice things up for the racers.

Please reply to this thread if you intend to race.

If the race is at 2AM GMT I will attend (and race). If not, I make no promises (I'll probably be out at dinner), so I would prefer 2AM GMT over midnight.

I like the latest time posible, but due to my recent chronic absence from this race, I abstain from voting.
Feb 04, 2006 moldyman link
Normally, either time is good for me. I'll vote for the later time this race though.
Feb 04, 2006 Screwball link
Ok, there seems to be a greater number of people who prefer the later time, so tonight's race will be at 2 AM GMT (9 PM EDT).

I may adopt an alternating schedule (every other week) to try to allow a greater number of players to participate, even if somewhat less often.

Suggestion: You could vary it between 3 values. 22:00 GMT, 00:00 GMT and 02:00 GMT.
That would enable a greater portion of the european player base to participate, and since they make up a significant percentage, it would be nice.

Yes, I have my own agenda here, I'm european to begin with.

My racing skills are fine, but I still have trouble dodging pirates. I will pay good for lessons from a pirate on how to dodge them. Contact me (Erik C.) ingame or post here if you're interested.

Dodging pirates? hah! The best solution is to turn and fight... at least then you have a chance... :P

Or warp into the wormhole sector from one right next to it... you'll start closer to the wormhole.
Feb 05, 2006 moldyman link
No no no...

I mean,... For instance, last night. Spuck took me out by camping the wormhole (right on the navpoint too). He fired swarms and such, I pointed down and tried to turbo into the wormhole area and get out, but a split second (literally, my ship's nose was already crossing into the white part!), the swarms all hit and killed me.

I need lessons in dodging fire, not dodging pirates. Dodging pirates falls under the "Racing Skill" category.

So where are the results of this race? Eaten by teh hamster, perhaps?
Feb 06, 2006 LeberMac link
Um. Sorry. I missed the race again.

I apparently was drunk and forgot about it?
Feb 06, 2006 jexkerome link
I think at this point, Leebs, no one really cares anymore whether you're there or not.
Feb 06, 2006 LeberMac link
Yay. I have been relegated to non-importance!
Feb 06, 2006 MSKanaka link
Leebs was getting ready (re: preparing his vocal cords) for his Super Bowl party so he could scream out to the world "IN YOUR FACE, SMITT!" when he won the bet >_>
Feb 06, 2006 LeberMac link
Actually, the bet was with smarvin, unless there's something I don't know...

AND - Who Won?!? Who raced? I need info!
Feb 06, 2006 moldyman link
Miharu did. Maximian got 2nd and Joyce third. I got eliminated by Spuck.
