a1k0n, just following the example of the Guides :)
they apparently let certain people say things so i felt entitled to say them. and if he doesnt like what hes called he can always use the filter or /ignore me. or was that stuff just added for fun?
i can never tell. :)

lately as you all know there have been certain people bothering and harrasing others. their apparently think they can do what they want so they do exactly that without reprecutions. this is wrong i must say. these people need to stop what they are doing immediatly or leave Vendetta permanently. these so called "Guidesxx" are outright annoying. they dont guide anyone, they just do what they wish when they wish. their logic is flawed, and their ideas are immoral. manytimes i've seen people say and do things that are for the most part harmless, yet these guides feel some sort of need to do something about it. i have never seen NOR heard of them being helpful in ANY manner what so ever! i hear nothing but constant complaints about them and how people would love to murder them manytimes over.

the devs NEED to realize this problem and fix it immediatly. no quater to be spaired for any of them. if something is not done aobut it i will assume that the devs agree with this attrocious behavior and i will encourage people not to play Vendetta. as sad as it will be for me to do so i will NOT stand for this type of harrasment. i trust that the devs will take this into serious consideration and something will be done.

Ok devs i need a questioned answered:

How long does mute last? I'm about fed up using a different account for talking to people!

My story
I was talking, well lightly swearing, at icarus, then boom "*** *You have been muted*" "Reason: 'Verbal Abuse'"

I could of sworn i didn't get 'warned' or anything, after openly complaining i get messaged by Guide89 "You were warned, not like you needed to be though"

The unwarned mute is basically what pushed me over the edge to post ... in sf's and this forum.

about 8 hours later after the unwarned mute, i talked to icarus, he said that none of that was very offensive, i had seen worse, so had he. About 2 hours later i got the message i said about above.

I'm not against guides, but they need to be less rude, well certain ones (well one)

I checked the logs; This isn't necessarily the guide's fault and more of an implementation issue. He tried to unmute you, but it didn't work because you were offline. You may not have been warned directly, but he tried to get your attention first.

You're unmuted now. My assessment: the muting was a little harsh, and it was apparently only to get your attention... The server log doesn't show private messages (or team messages), by the way, so I can't see whether/when you responded to him. We respect privacy. In any case, I've seen worse as well, but <insert no-excuse lecture here>. Guides can't always be on. Don't encourage others. etc.

Icarus sure is a pain, though. Good thing all my characters are red.

Furthermore, chewy, all he said to you was "Please do not verbally abuse other players" as you were going on about how icarus is an a-hole. What's your angle on how that is "immoral"?

a1k0n, would it be possible to only log guide pms? That way you could respect privacy but still see when the guides are warning people...
Apr 26, 2003 a1k0n link
chewy, it isn't as if guides are playing favorites, letting certain people say things. You aren't being singled out.

The problem is that guides don't have a constant presence (indeed, you might say the guide position is hideously understaffed), so we essentially let lot of things slide until one logs on.

Pyro, we need to make some modifications in that direction, yes.

Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!
Suicidal lemming deletes his char from rene's account!

Yah, it sure got my attention, a bit in the wrong direction.

Maybe you should have it say; "*** You are Muted by Guide 89" and make it so you can msg guides.

Chewy, pretend it was for fun.

Logging there messages is a good idea too.

A guide should warn someone using there magic white text as it seems to point out authority and it is much more visible.

a1k0n, lucky chooseing red =P

a1k0n, no that is wrong. when i was muted, some guy was cussing at another and the Guide didnt even mute him. he then used the excuse , "Oh but their friends". so how did this Guide know if the guy i was talkin to was a friend? sounds like this Guide has been here a while and WAS playing favorites. the Guide didn't even bother asking if we were friends. and you can check your log for that one.

I think I support a1k0n on this issue, though I do think that the area around the Guides needs to be improved. But I don't think we should get worked up about it. I think we as players need to realize that just like us, the guides are trying to get better at what they do. People make mistakes. Don't rip 'em apart just because they hurt your feelings. As it seems to me, the guides were right at what they did with our bud chewy here... but I can't really say since I wasn't there and don't know the whole story.

Just give the guides a little leeway. Give em a chance. I'm sure they've given all of us plenty of chances.

I think everything will be alright if the Guides keep in mind that they're -not- 'god,' and that the players keep in mind that maybe something we did in the game would warrant being muted.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again... just because you don't like whatever it is that happened... doesn't mean it SHOULDN'T happen.

As i was saying, i was having a bad day and all, losing money and all, then a unexpected mute pushed me over the edge, i think i posted in both threads i am back, if not, oops. =)

Hey, everybody gets pushed over the edge SL... many times its nobody's fault. Sometimes people are just a victim of circumstance... as it seems you were. And my little pirating guild probably didn't help out too much either lol.
Apr 26, 2003 a1k0n link
I'm sorry, chewy, but either that happened over three weeks ago or it didn't happen. The only mute I have a record of was for Suicidal Lemming. Our logs are a little too verbose and they fill up the disk way too fast, so they don't go back far enough. That will change as server bugs are worked out and debugging info in the logs becomes unnecessary.

I'll get the guide's side of the story if I can. In any case, I recognize that your razzing Icarus was fine with him, and ask that guides either lighten up or at least be consistent.

Suicidal, I'm sorry your mute got stuck. That's my fault, and I'll try to get that fixed ASAP.

It's fine by me as long as i can play using my account =) then again i don't really want others getting there mute stuck.
Apr 26, 2003 chewy link
hazaanko, they do have the idea that their god. thats one of the problems. you may not play when they are on but if you did you would see AND hear about it.

a1k0n, what needs to be done is decide what declares some one muted. you guys made a filter AND an ignore option but yet get on to people about what they say. if the guides are going to mute due to something that the filter or /ignore can handle just get rid of both of those options. to me mute should be used for spammers, thats the only thing that it would really be needed for.

chewy, probably. I'm not going to argue about guides, muting, or chat filters anymore. They aren't my territory.
