And the value in that is what exactly? The 8544 votes is like... 8 times the user base including inactive accounts?

I dont understand why people are so worked up by this because the results proves nothing, other than perhaps the fact that X product or Y company has the Nth best internet poll whores.

The poll is fundamentally flawed to begin with because the user base of VO doesn't warrant the company being rated so high, given rating is based on voters.

If you ask me, I'd have put GS way up there but not based on vote count but actual merits. THAT would have counted for something.

If you look at the best P2P game, WOW made it 3rd with some 8080 votes, while having close to 10 million users.

If the point was to gather free publicity, then it don't mean much either because people are not going to flock down here because GS made 2nd rank.

Constant user reviews, rather, on gaming sites by actual users is probably way more meaningful at attracting users.

Anyhow. My 2¢.

Hello to the devs and people on here. I'm still MIA but keeping an eye on the news. Have fun.

Yes, the process was flawed and the actual rankings statistically meaningless but free publicity is free publicity. And, obviously, the point was to try to rank first in at at least one category even though it wouldn't mean much and I doubt if people were going to flock down here because GS made 1st rank. It was just fun to compete against the big boys and their minions.

Completely true that maintaining a sustained presence on the gaming sites via posts and reviews is a very good long-term marketing strategy. I would recommend that the VO community pick the top two or three MMO sites and keep them up-to-date with what's happening with VO on a regular basis.

"Aeria Games & Entertainment, Inc. 16108" That's 8000 votes in something like 3 hours.

Someone figured out how to hack the system a LOT better than we did in those last few hours. :-/
If only we had a user in control of a botnet....
but what's done is done.

Well, 2nd is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, and mousey guy, I did what I did because I believe guild software to be the best gaming company. Hell, the devs get so involved in the community, you can even tell when they are having a bad day.

I wasn't criticising anyone Yoda. Just wondering the point of the exercise.

As for the dev's response to things, that's why I would have put GS way up there in the ranking: based on merit. Not click-scripting.

Heck, the devs even told us about Inc's GF's miscalculation of mass ratio between her bicycle and that truck.

That's more open than myself: I didn't tell anyone I just had surgery (though only a handful would have half-cared anyhow). On that subject, Lecter... you could now taste me with less bile. How cool's that?

Cheers.

Some of those games and companies i didn't know about. I did google them to find out more. So maybe some people will do the same and check out this game.

I do think Guild is a great company. The devs should be proud to rate 2nd with this small population base. Congrats guys.

And i saw the great increase in votes too. They could have wait till the last min and encouraged their users to vote. Also remember we could vote once per day from our IP address. So know one knows how many people actually voted.

Well the organizers might know how many unique IP's there were.
If they bothered to log it, which i don't think they did, considering how they approached making the site.
