Why such heavey bot defense?

Jul 23, 2003 jm_superjoe link
I reckon that if a team wants to defend its flag they should have to do it with their own sweat. Right now it seems that the lion's share of the defense work is done by d-bots. Doesn't make much sense to me.

late at night, there aren't very many people on to defend a flag. and it was too easy to capture a flag anyway. the new bots add challenge. and flag captures now require a team effort.

Heh heh, as it stands a team of two can effectively neutralize the entire bot defense thanks to the AI.

Actually - when collecting a team of 3 - 4 somewhat experienced players, and doing it right - they can just "walk" in and grap the flag, if noone defends it.

2 guys vult med/fast to distract the 2 sectors bots and 1 valk heav/heav to grab and bring flag to motherstation.... if those 3 r experienced it would be easy to cap even if there are defenders online... i already seen a red (don't remember his name but he's in the top50) taking flag from s1 to s2 with more than 3 or 4 rammers , swarmers or gaussers trying to down him.....

distracting bots is really ez

so 3 exp guys if they r like 3-4 defensers it's donable

that's utter bullcrap. no matter how good 3 people are it is not enough even when 1 of defenders has score higher than 10k and he's focusing on DFENC! think l-mines, think ramming, think targetting flag as enemy flies past and unloading missiles.

randomize, there are few zealous flag defenders left that i've seen. its really sad too, used to be times when certain people were on you didnt try a cap without alot of people, and even then you sometimes failed

tracid: it's impossible to cap when two or three experienced defenders are on - a couple of days ago four defenders (two of them weren't experienced) repelled a combined red/blue attack with lots of experienced attackers.

Right now, it's binary: easy to cap when noone defends, impossible to cap when there are defenders.
