I vote that Soon™ be replaced with a new VO-specific acronym:

NMWIAS: No Matter What, It's Always Something™. Maybe just IAS™ for short?

Dude, Incarnate, just hit up patreon or subbable, we obviously want this to happen, we have been paying for some software that isnt really worth it for some time. Put the word out, rely on the kindness of others.

No offense but your "server" infrastructure has never been more than a uncleared payment or ddos away from death. Instead of charging us for the favor of generating advertising, use that money within a system that isnt random and sketchy, like your current money generation scheme.

I feel like you have made a lot of shitty compromises in the last few years literally just for money to survive(android version, HAHAHAHAHAH). If you are sucking off some well "endowed" dick, its unlikey to make this game any good, just die slower.

I would much prefer that didnt happen.

You fellows have had almost 20 years to make this not shitty, others are applying themselves to the same genre now, finally. Youll need to adjust how you do things (And not in the pay2win way which you kind of seem to be going)

When I first saw this game, I thought, Ill never get tired of it. However most of the options now are better, and they dont cost a monthly fee.

... What?

Who are you, where did you come from?

20 years? Your math seems off. I don't recall ever hearing that Vendetta was in development earlier than 1998. Wasn't open to the public prior to 2002. 17 years isn't "almost 20"; I've never heard that said.

Patreon? That website that got hacked? Great idea!

Between your phallic fixation, insider "knowledge", and sidelong suggestions to try other games, this looks like a troll.

For what it's worth, most people play on Android. I certainly do, and I appreciate being able to switch back and forth. I'm aware of what else is out there; Vendetta is the only game in space including a non-sharded persistent universe and twitch combat I've found to be worthwhile... Jumpgate, maybe, but I can't get it to run smoothly on my laptop, I mainly use a Mac nowadays, and it looks like abandonware.

This new crop of space sims, the "big boys", just goes to show a lot of money doesn't always necessarily equal a great game. I mean, who puts a 1:1 scale galaxy online and doesn't bother to incorporate power laws into the PG algos? Guess what you're going to find out there? That's right, after a few hours, you've seen it (if you want to see PG done right, look at Dwarf Fortress).

It's great that there's a lot of new games floating around, but for whatever reason most of them I just seem to see behind the curtain. For those that enjoy them, more power to them.

Vendetta has managed to stay challenging and fresh for me since 2003. No other video game has been able to do that (maybe a few from the 1980s). I'll try anything, so long as I have the time and it doesn't cost too much.

Although I'm not 100% happy with all the developers decisions, and I sometimes post crap and snarky comments I do find myself agreeing with Phaser on this one.

I play on Android from time-to-time, I like the fact that it does run on my phones/tablets without needing to use something like streaming. 20 years? No. Even back in 2002 when I first started this game was not much more than a multi platform test. A game engine that these guys wanted to sell. Sure, that never happened, and because the "then" community didn't want to see this die they begged and begged for the devs to do more. I don't know how many of you remember; but just before closed beta, this game nearly never happened at all.

Yes I do get annoyed that some things do not happen as fast as I would like. Yes I do get pissy and say things like "I have had it with VO"; but for some reason I continue to subscribe and play. I guess what I am trying to say is I have never found another space game out there like VO. I have tried many others, like STO, EVE, E:D and even the GoF games, and although they may grab my attention for a little bit, I do not find myself going back to them time and time again.

I guess this is why I get so pissy when the VO devs do not deliver on time. Getting let down time and time again does get old. But if VO is still here in 20 years time, you will find me here too.

VO is the only online game I've ever managed to play for more than a few months (unless you count Shores of Hazeron or DayZ, but those are pretty much single-player games the way I play them).

Oh, I still pop back in SoH too. But that's not really the same. Although the drama can be sometimes ;) I only played DayZ when it was an Arma2 addon - not really bothered since - but it isn't space.

I dunno, I think confused troll is confused. Our server infrastructure is no different from WoW's, when it comes to not paying a bill or being DDoS'd (actually, we may be more flexible than Blizzard in that area). In terms of location and quality, our hosting has always been top-notch.

Android/mobile has been a rocky road, but god, we get *tons* of people from mobile now, and we aren't even live on iPhone yet. It brought in quite a bit of income when we needed it, and it's been a great long-term play, if a mediocre one in the short-term (vs game-content). Keep in mind, at the time when we went to mobile (2010), the entire game industry claimed that "PC was dead", because PC games were at such a low-sales point. Diversifying wasn't a bad idea.

I'm never 100% happy with the dev's decisions either (meaning: mine), as they've often been the "least-bad" of a choice between limited, crappy options. But, we keep rolling ahead.

Anyway, the game is either something people still like, or it isn't. That's cool either way. I'm not trying to convince anyone that we're perfect (obviously), or that we'll be as pretty as Star Citizen, or as big as EVE. But I think we'll always have something unique to offer, and I expect that offering to evolve quite a bit and get better.. even if it didn't happen over summer, as I had planned (hey, DX11 almost shipped into production last night, that was one of the goals? New Oculus SDK problem. Anyway..).

I think this thread has probably run its course for now, I'm going to roll it up and lock it.
