Hopes maybe down but, Vendetta has given me endless fun for over a year and I still love it. I've been hoping and still hoping Vendetta doesn't end.

I would just like the devs for thier endless time working on Vendetta and trying to make it great for us.

To Incarnate: I'm still thinking happy thoughts. :)

To Everybody else: It has been a joy playing with you all, pirates, jerks, griefers, and endless botters. Like I always say, I LOVE YOU ALL!!

I don't mean to intrude, but what publishers have you looked at/why did they not take the game? And should the "painful eventuality" come to pass, what becomes of Vendetta?

There's 1093 people on the ranking page with something over 0 score.. which implies that they played since the reset. If publishers said there was no market its time for a mob.

I can't express my thanks to the devs for my experience in the Vendetta Test. I've always wanted to play something that felt like the original Privateer in a MMO setting and this looked like the closest any game has ever gotten. It's sorta unreal that it might be dead soon... I guess the only way to say it is: Thank you. This game was my best MMO experience yet.

I've talked to every major publisher in the business, and a lot of minor ones, and some who aren't even in business anymore. Mostly I hear about how we're an inexperienced, unproven team that's never completed a title. Obviously, since this is our first title. I also hear about "space games don't sell", nervous looks at tenuous sales by Earth & Beyond and EVE. I've tried to emphasize the need for a realtime combat model to capture the Wing Commander / X-Wing / whatever kind of feel in an MMO setting. But, most publishers look at "delivered title" experience and "numbers" for the genre, and we don't stack up very well in either category. I agree that the market is obviously there, but.. I don't know if we'll have time to prove it.

I really hope this doesn't all go down... It's very hard to advertise a game like this to the mass media without mass funding. The servers would have to be bigger and faster, the user base would grow almost infinitely, and most importantly the game would still not be done even with 50,000 people playing it for free. It's a hard situation to grasp but I wish everyone the best of luck, I've only played for about 4 months now but I've made a lot friends, and a lot of enemies that I don't want to lose so quickly...

Tell them if there is no market, why is there EV? EVO? EVN? EVN for windows? EV and EVO ports to the EVN engine? A Total Conversion plugin for EVN (polycon), which I may say is quite wonderful, and several in the works?

inexperienced my ass look at this, you already bloody have players and a playable game, I'm sick of these fucking publishers releasing shit like EVE and Earth and beyond that are total dice roll garbage and assuming space games dont sell, the market has been shit since EA wrecked origin back in 2000 for that god damned ultima online crap. games today all suck, are all the same and dont have a single god damned bit of cleverness or orginality in them and it's sick.

Don't hold back, CrazySpence. Tell us how you really feel. :)

I happen to agree. ;)

I'm also disgusted that no publisher sees the true potential of the game. I can't see why Vendetta wouldn't sell and I don't understand why they can't even take a risk to support Vendetta and publish it once it's finished. They are oblivious that there are so many people who would enjoy Vendetta... and that Vendetta hasn't had much publicity. And yet, somehow, Vendetta has attracted so many users. Although I know many sites have mentioned Vendetta, I'm pretty sure it didn't hit the big sites yet.

If Vendetta has to be pay to test, I will. There has already been many that have agreed to pay to just TEST the game. Don't the publishers see?... They've read 60 pages of what the game will build on... but they haven't seen the potential.

I hope Guild Software, Inc. does not end here. At least have the end of Guild Software, Inc. include that they released and supported a game called Vendetta after testing and beta testing.

I've enjoyed this game for over a year and I will stick until the end. I've sort of said random things... But I do mean I will stay until the end... And that end shouldn't be weeks away....

Incarnate there are definately a number of people who would be willing to pay a monthly fee at this point to help give you the time to prove a case to publishers.

/me weeps.

I wish you all the best, the mac needs good games like this. If things turn out the worst, you all should look for jobs at Aspyr, Westlake, or something (those of you that know macs). Aspyr has been snatching up programmers like crazy.
Dec 23, 2003 Suicidal Lemming link
The mac really does need games like this, right now i have found 0 good MMORPGs for the mac. (except this one, of course.)

I am... completely overwhelmed by the concept of Vendetta and more importantly Guild Software, Inc. just dying. Never have I been more worried in my life.

If this really is the end, I would like the Devs to know that words can not express my thanks to you for all of your hard work and my praise for your insane amount of talent. If I could, I would go up to the leaders of all those publishers you asked and slap them in the face. A couple of times. Hard. Six people made this game (test, w/e.. its better than most games I've played..), and it kicks some major ass. That alone should be enough of a motive to publish it... I mean really, they're willing to spend millions of dollars on games that suck and are made by 30+ people, but arent willing to put that same money into a game that is infinitly better than that one? Pure insanity.

*If I had a Million dollars..* I'd donate every cent of it to Guild right now. But since I dont, I'd like to apologize to everyone for my awkard ranting post, and to thank you all for making the game so fun to play (devs and players).

/me cries (no joke)

I don't want to bring hopes down, but for a publisher some 1000 players are nothing. Everything below 100,000 sold titles is probably neither going to pay for the development cost nor for marketing. Incarnate, you might want to try to sell/license some parts of the engine. Decent 3-platform 3D engines are rare and licenses expensive. Maybe somebody is interested. If everything fails and you decide to close shop, you could put up a fund to opensource vendetta. That worked pretty well in the past. People paid 100k USD to opensource Blender. This way you could recover at least a part of the development costs.

I've had a lot of fun playing Vendetta and hanging out with the Vendetta community since last Summer. I really hope that you guys manage to find a way to pull through. I'd personally be willing to pay some monthly amount just to keep playing Vendetta Test, and to have the privilege of watching it grow. So that might be an option for you, if enough people feel the same way.

I never thought it would come to this...
I've been playing this game for about a year now, and I have to say, it's the ONLY game I never get sick of, I can play and play, regardless of bugs or ANYTHING and still have SO MUCH FUN!
As Firemage so plainly stated... I'm also disgusted noone (publisher wise) can see the potential in this game, ugh... If I wasn't nearing bankruptcy myself, I would send all the money I could. And if hope is diminished and Vendetta comes to an end, I must say, it has been great playing with everyone, Phoenix, Icarus, Arolte, Silicon, Venthir, Xhale, Jorus... All of u... Incarnate, I hope this pulls together, and I would by no means call u guys "inexperienced, unproven team", from what u have created so far, and the speed it has been created, I must say, u are a fine team of individuals, and you have proven urself to me anway...

It was a priviledge, no, an honour to be in this community
