Posted to Reddit and stickied near the top, hopefully letting potential new pilots meet the rest of the community better.

Good start with the Discord.

"Let's leave IRC out of this discussion for the moment."

Sounds like the canine fornicating community will go back to their IRC to frigg the dog there.

All those UNSUPPORTED plugins tho

Discord suggestion: add a role people can request; when there is an event, we can @eventattendees instead of @everyone.

Can we pin this so its easier for newbies to find please

Luxen, you should be able to create that now.

Seems like pinning this is a good idea.

I'd just like to point out for the sake of clarity that Wash is hosting the VO Discord account, not Guild Software.
Sep 28, 2018 -Wash- link
Actually that statement is incorrect Greenwall. I am running the backend code for the Vo Official Discord relay channel until INC has time to code something of his own.
Sep 28, 2018 greenwall link
You are running VODR, which is the VO character through which the Discord relay comes into the game.

so what?

Yeah.. so what? The Discord side is ours. Wash volunteered to operate it, until we have a moment to properly implement Discord's API, at which point we'll run it all internally.

But, I don't know what we're "clarifying", or to whom you're seeking to provide clarity, Greenwall.

I was under the distinct impression that VODR was run by Guild Software. Turns out that is not the case, it's run by Wash. I would have liked to know this, and I decided to post it here in case there were others who might feel the same way. No need to over-dramatize this beyond that point.

That seems pretty dramatic to begin with, enough to revive a month old thread?

It is our relay, we control both sides, and we determine who has "speaking" access to the game. Guides are empowered to take action, on Discord and in the game. Wash has nothing to do with of that.

But, whatever floats your boat.

Yeah, this is just another power trip by Wash per usual. Couldn't control speech in 100 so he does it inside a safe-space enabled by Guild-Software.

I guess he learned not to question those who can provide power and he will receive it.

^ Absolutely true. Wash shut down the discord at one point over in-game politics. Screenshot after screenshot of his in-game behavior was somehow not enough to revoke his control over the Discord server and 100 relay.

Oh look someone is MaD , becuz a mod took action against him , after warning him so many times in discord.

/me waits fer the remaining mi5 team to agree with him here.

Guild Software controls the Discord server. I mean, the entity that owns the server, by definition, controls the server. That's just how Discord works.

If you think a Discord moderator did something that was out of line, inform a guide via Discord or a dev via support ticket. Along with that, slinging public accusations isn't productive for anyone, much less this thread.

Soo.. we're reviving an old thread, to post public drama, where in my last post on this thread (nearly two months ago), I said it seemed like a bad idea to revive an (already) old thread to stir up public drama.

Seriously, there's a ticket system, it exists for this exact purpose.

It's irritating to have to lock this thread, but that seems to be necessary.

So, I actually didn't know what was causing this sudden outburst of angsty posts..

But, after some further reading of context, I completely support Wash's decision to ban Mi5 from Discord. Wash actually was trying to reach out to me to deal with the situation, to avoid banning Mi5, knowing he (Wash) would be accused of personal bias. But, I misunderstood Wash's message at the time, and ended up sifting through chat from 100.

Mi5 was being incredibly negative and toxic, about me personally, the ethics of Guild Software, as well as making up lots of stuff about our financial state. He was warned several times by Discord mods to adjust his behaviour.

For instance:

Incarnate doesn't want more players fools, that means hiring more people, and more work, and yeah nah.
He wants it nice and comfy, only telling ray to poop out a update for samsung or google every few months.
and telling us to shove it every once in a while for giving him money and having expectations

I'm sure he's got a window open with 100, discord, emails, and tickets, and just thinking, yeah, f*** these guys haha

And then demanding "proof" that his claims were not all entirely accurate.

Now, lets stop with these unchallenged claims, if I am wrong, show me, don't just say "He's wrong" and walk off.

Good freakin' god. Yeah, I know, we haven't delivered some of the game changes people wanted in a long time, and that's disappointing, I get that. But we have kept the lights on for 20 years, at great personal sacrifice.

Everything we do is to improve Vendetta Online. It's our entire focus. We've had many, many offers that would have greatly improved our personal lifestyles, and stress levels, and basically killed VO. But we didn't take them. We're still here, still focused single-mindedly on trying to deliver on the original promise of this game.

We definitely want more players, more developers and more content. But it isn't that "simple", just because some naive person thinks it "should" be. It takes real cognitive dissonance to hold that belief, while examining the graveyard of game development, littered with thousands of other titles that didn't make it (despite more funding, and more developers).

But really, that isn't the issue here. It isn't okay to show up on someone's forum, or chat channel, or game channel, and suddenly say a bunch of terrible things about them. Nor is it helpful to claim "freedom of speech" and then demand to be "proven" wrong.

That's like someone jumping on Discord and saying "XX is a necrophiliac! That's my theory and opinion! Prove me wrong! Freedom of speech!". That isn't okay, that's insanity.

These systems, like Discord, are intended for the communication of people playing our game, adhering fundamentally to the Be Nice Policies, as laid-out explicitly in the access request thread. They're intended to help newbies, and generally improve the ability of the game's community to positively interact.

Some people seem to have forgotten that developing an Opinion does not make it okay to say anything you want, any time you want, especially on a medium that is explicitly not free and is intended to further positive, friendly communication about a fundamentally "corporate" game title.

Our games, forum, discord-server and other official mediums are not any "free-er" than those belonging to Blizzard, Riot, or any other game company.

I'm actually not against real constructive criticism. But anyone who thinks the above examples are "constructive" needs to spend some time with self-examination. It's just shameless trolling.
