Ways to make money in VO

I was just wondering what are the most efficient ways to earn credits in the game, since most missions don't give much (Rouge Queen, for example, does give good licences but a very little amount of credits).

once you have broken your first few million, you will quickly realise credits don't really have much worth in VO

Speak for yourself! There's a pretty big difference between having 10 million credits and having 100 million credits, in terms of what sorts of trading opportunities might be afforded.

I think I get your general point which is 'you don't really need many credits to play and enjoy the game' which is true, but credits do carry tangible value especially when trading between players.

If I can keep a balance of 10-15m credits, I am perfectly fine. I do not trade, manu or do anything that requires a credit level above that.

Everyone has their own views, but for most combat-oriented players, a steady 10-15 million is good.

1. If you want to break through your first million, just stick with the courier missions and do some mining missions for ores such as Xithricite or VanAzek. Also do some commodity trading in an Atlas or centaur to supplement your income. These with your early missions and escorts should get you to your first million.

2. If you are f2p(though this is equally applicable to subs too), your best way to grind some good amount of money is through combat. Queen drops such as Hive Positrons, Queen cores, or the Law Enforcement Neutron, or the Leviathan drops - the Data Aggregator or a SamoFlange sell from almost a million to 15-20 million each. This is not a steady flow of credits though, as drops are random and you could go through a lot of queen kills without getting anything good. They also require you to be decent in combat.

For a steadier flow of income(AND if you are more combat oriented), farming Synthetic SilkSteel is the best way to go. It's a major raw material for the construction of a capital ship and sells upwards of 20k a piece to players. They drop the most from Arklans Guardians and you'll be making a few millions worth an hour.

3. If you are a subscriber(AND don't mind hauling across systems), get to trade license 5 and buy behemoths from a corvus station. Start weapons trading in nation space and you'll be raking in a few million an hour. This will soon seem slow and grindy, at which point switch to a behemoth XC or consider point 4.

4. If you have the time, patience and the need to make an enormous amount of credits, manufacturing final capital ship components is the way to go. A fully constructed trident would make your trade profits rise by almost 3-4 times as compared to an XC(considering loading/unloading time), and is the best way to ensure a steady and sizeable cash flow.

You can also opt to sell those parts, some of which sell in hundreds of millions, or sell an entire "kit" for billions.

Manufacturing however requires you to be subscribed, have a decent amount of capital, access to conquerable stations, knowledge of location of raw materials. It is also highly recommend to be done with the assistance of a guild.

There are many more ways to make a decent amount of money, and as others have pointed out above, you don't really need more than 10-20m unless you engage in top tier PvP or are in the capital ship business.

If you are f2p, for trade or mining, get a tpg atlas x, taur2(corvus?), tung mineral maud, mineral moth.

Bulk Procurement missions ( longer is better, and is also great for faction standing )
.On the fetch leg of the mission, try to carry some commodities to the fetch from station.

Trade mining missions, if you have at least a pair of large port mining beam mk2. (also a good way to reset the bulk trade missions listed.)

Escort mission ( Shorter may be better, use a cargo scanner to know when to abort the mission.)

Hive skirmish missions in an ion storm. ( get the ones to kill the queen, and kill everything but the queen.)

Use a cargo scanner to see what npc voys are transporting, and when you see something good (like a load of corvus chocolates) kill it, and sell the goods.

Also enter the organised events, they often have big prize money and you don't need to be a superstar to win something.

I've picked up 20M in various events over the last year which has basically funded me - I haven't needed to earn any other money other than as a byproduct of some other things I needed.

There is money to be had in certain Orion stations....

Just remember not all events have prize pools; the open season of TeamDX is hosted too egularly and has too many potential winners to handle a prize bucket.

I made a lot of money greeting people at worm holes, telling them they would be safer if they paid me money. You should try it, you meet all sorts of fun people!

Ye can also capture and then smuggle people of small size, this is completely immoral but ye can make a profit if ye find the right buyer.

Ok, so I have 3x Synthetic SilkSteel. How do I sell it to other players? Is it a "/" command like "/j" to join another channel?
Oct 07, 2019 Luxen link
No, in order to do player-to-player trade, the buyer has to /givemoney <pilot name in quotes> <amount> to the person in their sector, and the seller has to jettison the items from their cargo hold and let the buyer scoop them up. There is no in-game interface for trade - and its been suggested many many many times, but theres a mix of different styles of players not agreeing on how it should be implememted [example: it makes piracy of components extremely difficult middle of a transaction], as well as the significant dev time required to create that system [remember, there'r only two developers right now]

Only two devs now? I thought they were four. Anyway, the current trade method more or less works... Unless you're on the other side of the galaxy, lol :-)
