is there a way to put a players subscription on hold keeping remaining time ?

No, not at present. It's not very likely in the future, either, simply because usage of subscriptions crosses a lot of different billing systems, these days, and each system has different capabilities.
For instance, we can't even administratively cancel an iOS subscription, last I checked (let alone create an "on hold" concept). It has to be done by the player.
When you have a lot of varied billing systems, it also gets more complicated to explain capabilities of the billing system(s), and who can do what on where. It's easier to have something consistent, than have to regularly answer more Tickets.
We have people who sub their PC account on the website, but their Lite accounts on mobile devices, and so on.
