The direction of Vendetta

Congratulations on the new funding, Incarnate. When I saw that Guild Software purchased a new server with a credit card I begin to have bad thoughts in my mind. Credit cards are certainly not a good sign when the future of your business is questionable. It felt as if Guild Software was digging its own grave. But I guess sometimes you have to take that leap of faith and keep doing what you love to do, no matter what. That's what makes Guild Software so cool. It's a company full of developers that actually enjoy doing their job.

While I'm happy for this news, I guess a part of me is still concerned about whether the publisher will unexpectedly drop funding support in the future (if it takes too long) and whether the game will still be crossplatform. A good chunk of the Vendetta community is still composed of Linux and Mac gamers. It's very rare that you see such a game of this type be developed for either of these platforms. If Vendetta pulls through and remains crossplatform, there'll be a lot of happy people (and possibly money) from both these communities.

Anyway, keep up the awesome dedication and good luck on the completion of Vendetta.

Arolte: It's not a publisher, it's an investor. I'll leave it to incarnate to say more if he likes, but he has good reason to beleive that this investor will make no specific demands about game development.

That rocks, this game rocks, all the devs rock, and if this game flies off the shelves itll be no more than they deserve. This is one of THE most engrossing games I have ever played, and its a test. The finished product will be incredible, and with the funding, you guys are able to do an even more stellar job than you have so far.

Wow - Incarnate - sounds like we played the same games!

I know you probably missed my dozen or so "We should implement this - it was in X-wing" posts, but hey, if you can make a game HALF that good, it'll rock.

Here's to Guild software!

Hey all you Vendetta devs out there--

I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you for producing this wonderful game for us. Even if this meant you had to sell your shoes, and wear paper bags to work, you kept the servers running, and the bugfixes coming. I applaud your work, and you graduate from my university summa cum laude.

Pssst--Guys, that's Latin for 'with highest praise'. You people know what I'm talking about.

Is Red Cactus University accredited, or is it one of those Internet Universities that come up in spam and pop-ups?

Here is an interesting QUESTION.

Will the combat system in Vendetta be mainly physcs based, or are you going to eventually shift a little more toward the Wing Commander/X-Wing version of 3-d combat?

The flight model won't change much if at all.
