Exp reset for anyone with over 100k

Now we know that several people have over 100k in combat, light weapons, and heavy weapons exp. People like Alex Rowe[INM] has over 450k of combat exp, due to endlessly killing bots on the basic training mission(which I hear has been fixed). Now when they eventually get money to level up these people have a major advantage over anyone who just did a normal upgrade. Who bought a license every step of the way, or close to it. I suggest along with other people's agreements that we ask the devs here nicely to set combat, light weapons, and heavy weapons exp to 100k for anyone who has more than 100k. We just want it to be fair for all, I know you people who endlessly killed bot are going to be annoyed by this but this is like a money bug, you get lots of money and it screws up the economy. In this case you get endless amounts of exp and you get specials with gauss while everyone else is in a vulture with phased blasters and a medium battery and engine.

I second this. In fact, I think we should reset it to 75k or less.

I third it, I tried hard for my measly 20k in experience for combat :/

I think everyone's combat experience should be reset to 4. That's where everybody SHOULD be, since advanced training is still kaput. Money and score really isn't an issue (although it would be nice to see score go completely). Also, I'm getting a little funkiness in my character's reputation system. For example if I kill a NT player, the nation hates me. But when I kill another one... it goes back up to like 40% or something. Also, I started out with 99% hate for Itani nation. Ever since killing 3 Itani players, the hate level DROPPED. So as far as I'm concerned the governments hate their own people and want them killed.

/me glances.

Uh, lets just say reset everyone ABOVE level 4 to level 4, and leave everyone else where they were.

Arolte after it hits 0%, you move to another level not sure if it's Extremely hated or what, but then you are 99% Very Hated lets say and that goes down to 0%, then you are lets say Kill On Sight. I know it's a bit confusing at first.

I second the XP reduction, although level 4 is a bit low. I'm sure there were people who leveled up to four and then worked very hard to get their lvl5, resetting them would serve little purpose (does not make that much of a diference) and cost them a lot of work. ALso, those who did bot to get their high experience spent a lot of time doing it and it is not their fault that the bug allowed them to keep going, they should get something out of their perseverance. So in my opinion the XP should be cut down to level the playing field, but I'd suggest the 100k XP or something like lvl 5 or 6, no less.

"resetting them would serve little purpose (does not make that much of a diference) and cost them a lot of work"

That doesn't make sense.

Sorry, that was not very clear. I meant, whether the reset is to lvl4 or lvl5 makes a little difference, so why not make it lvl5 (or 6, or something that feels fair but does not punish players too severely). Having people with >100k XP does make a big difference, and that is what needs to be addressed. But cutting everyone down too low would be a bit too drastic (btw., I don't care, I'm 4/2/2/2 so reset to 4 works better for me).

And would it not be better to have this is suggestions?

Resetting em to 4/2/2 or 5/3/3 would be good IMHO.

Fur, it's impossible to get beyond 4/2/2 now (actually, 4/1/1 with the mission fix).

I talked with Starfreeze in game about this, and I definitely don't oppose it, yet am not sure I support it.

There was similar outcry in 3.2 when a nifty weapon called the rail gun arrived. It did around 2000 damage, and took no energy. Moreover, Itani pilots were enjoying a Valkyrie with 18000 hull points. Starfreeze, Sam II, and Phoenix (if he wasn't in his 28000 prom) ruled the skies. There was similar outcry among Serco and NT pilots about being screwed over. However, the rail gun was nerfed to 1100 damage with an energy requirement of 110/shot, and the Valk's health was lowered to 12000.

Once the advanced combat missions start working, everyone will catch up quickly. In the mean time, trade. You can get a lot of money by exploiting un/under-used routes! I made 10k/widget off a quick 9-2 trip. As long as you don't go out of your way to antagonize the current crop of heroes (that's what I'll call them), you should be fine. Psst, ever offer to buy one of em off? "Hey, I'll give you 20k if you don't attack me for a day." If the person is difficult, make it 50k, offer to give them a PK in a bus for their national standing. Just don't blow your top.

I'd like to note that I have no personal position on this issue. I am not one of the uber-heroes (I'm only 4/2/2/0), so I'll more likely be paying people off instead of doing the killing. :D

I agree with Arolte. Reset experience over level 4 back to the top of level 4 (1 below what is needed for 5).
Apr 29, 2004 Katarn link
Aye to that!
Apr 29, 2004 Arolte link
Errrr... I didn't say to the top of level 4. 'Cause if you had 1 below, all you gotta do is take out one bot and get a license outta that. It's the bonuses that give you that advantage. I'd say 4.5. Halfway up to whatever skill point are necessary for level 5.
Apr 29, 2004 Celebrim link
I was agreeing with you in that you were the first in the thread to state that the reset should be to level 4.

I could really care less where in 4 the reset goes to, but it seems to me that the main thing is that people who got long access to the cheat don't have a big advantage.

I agree also, those people who took advantage of the comabt mission to gain huge xp currently have an unsurpassable advantage. Dropping combat xp to level 4 or 5 seems like something that could be done without making everyone start over from scratch.

I still stick with 100k exp because yea it did take some time for them to work to have all that exp.

Well...
Originally I didn't think this was such a big deal, I was in game while Alex was botting, and let me tell ya, it took mighty long for him to get all those kills (longer than i was willing to bot in the limited equipment one below level 4 can use).
Also i'm sure it is taking quite a while for him to save up the money to purchase the licenses as well.

This perspective was before the Advanced Combat missions were fixed (thanks Devs :D).
Now having recently started the advanced mission, i can only comment on my experience so far, but so far it's looking like it would be extremely hard to catch up.
The reason is because the advanced mission is structured differently.
I assumed it would be the same structure with higher level bots, and higher bonuses. If this was the case, then it would make sense that once the advanced was available you would switch over in order to get the higher bonuses. which would mean that we could achieve the same levels as Alex and Dave with less kills, meaning less time spent botting.

But, because the advanced mission is structured so differently It does now appear that they have gained an unfair advantage, and all the time and effort they put into it is relatively small in comparison to the amount we will need to match their level.

So I think a reset to where they would be at the end of the "fixed" beginner mission would be beneficial, not only for us, but for them, who are after all two very experienced players whose input on the progression to the highest level would be valuable.

as one of those who -had- 6/4/4 (+ possibility to take 7/5/5 but not enough cash) and who reset my character, I quite believe in this myself.

Then again, perhaps we should just let them play gods, and hope they can behave. (ha. ha. ;)
