Not, that i might be ingame, but ...

[quote]4. Any player attacking a cap ship OR its defenders before the battle will be KOS for all nations.[quote]

... imho each player should be free to attack whenever s/he wants and who or what s/he wants.

Don't try to tear a ring through the nose of players who don't participate your frig contest.

Well, the great Capital Ship Battle was fun... yea... The Itani capship got wingbugged by the Itani "defenders" before it even got to Sedina, the Serco capship got killed as soon as it arrived in Sedina cuz all of the Itani were released to attack the Serco once they didn't have a cap ship to defend anymore, and the number of UIT players sitting in the Zolar's turrets outnumbered all of the Serco online. And then when I returned to Sedina B8 after the Potaris died, there were 18 Itani attacking the two Serco still in the sector.

check out "Poll: Another Capital Ship Battle???" here:

The Serco cap ship was of course overwhelmed. I wish more Serco showed up but there nothing I can do about that. The Serco need to organize and get their people to show up. Like I said before there are usually more Itani and UIT online, but by making this an announced battle I hoped to get more Serco online.

Any suggestions?

yea... We need to set up recruiting stations! Or even better! Press gangs! Run up to random people on the street, hit 'em over the head with clubs, and get them subscribed as Serco players!

Jestatis... I don't know if you've noticed, but it's a very rare day when there are more Serco online than Itani or UIT.

Yeah, its not that serco just don't get their players online, its that they actually HAVE LESS.

Many feel this has to do with the incredible itani bias of the backstory.

(I would also like to point out that rockets showed themselves to be obscenely powerful in the capship wars, there just wasn't any way for me to slowplay Niki's rocketvult, so I had to rush in, which is touch and go at best)

I understand the Serco have less players overall. But every Serco, UIT or Itani player didn’t show up today. Assume that 10% (for the sake of argument) of the Serco showed up today, about 10 players. That means you have 100 players in total. If you could get 20% of your players online you would have a better chance of wining. I’m not saying it’s easy but it is possible. It’s up to you to get the word out and encourage your players to join the fight.

Every nation has the same chance of winning. The Itani and UIT do have more people but they also have more people interested in joining this battle. I posted on the forums a week ago and the final rules were posted on Thursday afternoon. I also posted to every web site I could find in the guild pages to spread the word. And when I was online I sent messages out on Chan 100, 11 and 1.

There is no way I can force anyone to be Serco. I even changed the rules to allow the UIT and Itani (traitors) to help you if they wished.

What else do you want me to do?
May 08, 2005 Shapenaji link
No, what I'm saying is that there's nothing you CAN do.

The old serco organization is based on several players who will not start playing again until a lot of things are improved. And even then, it was never much more than 10 players.
May 08, 2005 softy2 link
Yeah. I don't care about the "old serco" organization so much.

But, EVERYBODY else CAN do something about it : it's called evening the teams. What I don't understand is why the Itani still actively seek the help of "neutral BLAK" mercenaries. (Shame on you tumblemonster and Borb =p)

I took out Holden against the Itani in the 2nd capship battle. Of course I die many times, but heck I had a blast anyway, and ended up with plenty of PKs. I am pretty sure I will not enjoy it if I have played with the itani side, simply because I will get more frustrated trying to engage a serco who is already being thrashed by 5 other itanis. (Imagine : Look! A serco! Turbo...come on...you can arrive and get in a shot before he....BOOM. Darn. Need to look for another target now.)
May 08, 2005 CrippledPidgeon link
yea... sorry for trying to you out on that one.

But then again, when I jump into a sector and see 8 Itani chasing 1 Serco around, it's tough to remember who's fighting for who.

And seriously... To those Itani chasing that one Serco around (I don't remember who it was anymore), why did you need 7 people to do it?

Something does need to be done, though. It's obvious that numbers are a factor, and that the UIT won simply because the Itani chose to attack the Serco first. Which means, of course, that if the Sola had not popped out early, the Itani would have been victorious yet again.

Evening the teams out sounds like a good option, but there's no real way to do it, as no one can enforce rules or anything like that. Player compromise will have to do, and we know that there are people who'll go back on their words and other that will refuse to follow rules from the beginning.

I still think that once a team's cap ship is knocked out, that team does not get to further participate.

So if a team wingbugs their cap ship, they can't just send all their players to overwhelm the other teams' defenders.

Either that, or there must be three impartial officials who tail each cap ship, and give regular updates to the ship of their responsibility's position. If a capship is destroyed prematurely, then that official makes an announcement immediately so that all teams can regroup and reorganize.

But even then, I tend to think that the UIT will tend to keep their cap ship alive the longest because given equal circumstances, the Itani will always attack the Serco first, and the Serco will always attack the Itani first. But the Serco always have less players online than Itani (generally 1/2 the number of Itani), so the Serco capship is always undermanned, and gets swarmed.
