BLAK disappearence

In a mere doggerel you spout,
an ode to the victory you raise;
in your hands, stained with self-doubt,
hidden by gloves of self-praise.

But you find the peace you craved,
polluted by the demons of your own;
inside the paranoia of the depraved,
seeking them, seeking them alone...

among those you vowed to defend,
you see inklings of your old foes;
As the enemy to their end you send..
Do you hear laughter in their death throes?

Why don't you rejoice? Why not bask
in the glory of your own creation?
Oh why do you see a mask...
on the face of every single person?

So, make your ode, sing your song,
and to those who are dead, you taunt.
But watch your dreams, for along
come the ghosts of your own making...

they'll haunt.

Oooh! It's a poetry contest!
(I might be outmatched on this one, as is usual. Help!)
This last one was good! *snaps fingers for Riddler*

(I hear you're supposed to snap fingers for poetry readings. So I'm a n00b at something ELSE. No surprise, there.)

Leber snaps his fingers? He doesn't clap? Dr. Lecter finds this somewhat disturbing...

So he's a Beatnik. It's appropriate for poetry. It's no more disturbing than refering to yourself in the third person Dr. Elmo.

There be a pirate from Bractus,
with whiskers just like a cactus.
... For my booty he pined,
... 'till he flew where I'd mined.
More patience he needs in his practice!

(sorry Riddler, the last line has an extra syllable, but limericks aren't necessarily law abiding creatures).

EDIT: elipses to enforce indentation :)

And there they go again. To be honest, I've NEVER seen VPR, IDF or IA make ANY impact on the pirate guilds activities. I've seen SOME members of these guilds defeat SOME members of the pirate guilds (and vice versa), but mainly in CTC or while fighting for the sake of fighting in B8.

My point? if thse guilds' claims that they kept piracy to a minimum are true simply because they say so, then I do hereby declare that all trading and fighting is made possible by my Will only. Try and disprove that!

And no, they didn't steal my girlfriend. They ran over my dog!
Jun 03, 2005 Sun Tzu link
Where did you read that IDF claimed to have any impact on the pirate guild activities?

Your argument is totally irrelevant anyway (and I'm not even talking of the validity of "I've never seen this or that" as a way to prove anything). The only real anti-piracy action is escorting; the rest is just an excuse for fighting. As long as traders don't ask for it, they are happy to see a pirate or they don't mind that much.
Jun 03, 2005 LeberMac link
@jexkerome:
Here's how I have an impact on pirating activities:
1. Rare occasion that a trader/miner goes through B8 and is hassled by pirates.
2. I engage said pirate and occupy him long enough for the trader/miner to get away
3. I either die or kill the pirate. Either way the objective has been obtained. If i die, the pirate is usually damaged and out of ammo, and therefore heads back to base to repair/rearm. If the pirate dies he's back at home base anyway.

I haven't kept records of any traders/miners that I have protected, I wonder how many I have helped. 10? 20? It's not much. Most traders/miners just blow through the WH at full infiniboost speed and the pirates never have a chance.

Hi all,

I appreciate all the attempts at roleplaying in this game, though we all agree that this game has very little support when it comes to letting the players "immersed" themselves in character. In particular, death is so cheap that there is little to argue why people should care anyway.

You can't "kill" pirates, since they will respawn. You can't "stop" trade, because traders will also respawn and money is so easily made.

So I am glad to see people like Lebermac, M. Blackhawk and of course The Riddler, which is definitely an alt etc etc, making an attempt at roleplaying : please don't stop. (Jexkerome : you are not being helpful, and I do feel that if you don't want to engage in roleplaying but instead just want to mock those who try, you should just leave this thread before it degenerates into petty namecalling).

and to bring it full circle.

several interesting things happened right around the time of the BLAK gonnedness. For one, the dWo also mysteriously vanished. Yodaofborg left the guild (im not entirely sure when this was). The BLAK HELL virus had recently done something, of which im not entirely sure what it was, and Borer Patrol decreased its ammount of activity. Coincidences? I think not!

[out of role]Thank you Henry. Once again, your insight truly impresses me. We need to talk more. :)

jexkerome: hehe... you are too stinkin' funny. I can only assume that you are a pirate (since you haven't indicated your in-game persona, but that you have lost your dog)... and I will simply say that your posts indicate that we are indeed having an effect. To you, I will just say "you are welcome". :)[/out of role]

A pirate's job (I'll quote from a well-known pirate currently active) is to "prevent missions [trade]". My job is clearly documented in our mission statement, and is available for public inspection. I personally use pirate's "whining" as an indicator of how well I am doing my job. The more whining I hear, the better I know I am doing my job. I personally ignore comments on "tactics", or "honor", or any other directed statement by a pirate (uh, they *are* a pirate and do and say anything they want - doesn't make it accurate - they are simply "doing their job")... but rather, I use the *intensity* of their complaining as the indicator. Pirate battles are not formal duels, and therefore not subject to dueling rules. I understand that. [BLAK] did, at least, uphold themselves to a "standard" of behavior. Other pirates simply do not.

Finally, the assumption that [BLAK] were the only pirates in space is quite simply incorrect. The idea that [VPR], [IA], etc. are not effective and therefore should go away is also faulty logic. What that would tell me is that we need to get *better* at doing our job, not *stop* doing it. Along that line, I assure you that we are taking steps to be more efficient and more effective. We have an alliance with [IA] to also help address that direction. That's all I am going to say about that.

To the traders/miners: fair winds, my friends. May every journey be profitable. Please let any [VPR] or [IA] know how they can help you.

To the pirates: Be patient (I know that is difficult for you). We'll get to you eventually.

Look what i have created. Also who?me? your're way behind we all know that. And VPR and IA had nothing to do with their dissapearance and you all know it.The truth is unravelling slowing and im picking it apart. Some of you are on the right track, others are either too slow or have no clue.Dont you see UIT Border Patrol is BLAK and yes they have all made alts and some of them are quite obvious, Matriarch/Shape (for example).

(btw, keep up the poetry. Some of the most creative stuff, from the most creative people I've seen... and have truly enjoyed.)

Not *all* of the [BP] were [BLAK], Touriaus... and you are correct, [VPR] and [IA] did not *directly* effect their, ermmm... "vacation".

hehe... I can't wait for the "Truth? You can't handle the truth!" statement...

Well, you can't expect everyone to have our superior typesetting skills, Seldon. Hehe. ONE space after periods. ONE! Not zero, not Two. ONE!

Now dormant lies the darkest guild,
their members lie in state.
If separation lingers on,
forgotten be their fate.

Transforming the reports of them
from story into myth,
until the myth becomes a tale
to scare new players with.

Others rise to take the helm
which on their head once sat.
I look forward to the day ahead
when they'll do more than chat.

The day you find me not role-playing in the Role Playing forum, is the day I eat my hat.

I play an Itani-, Serco-, UIT-, Pirate- and TGFT-hatin' pilot, both in this forum and in-game. I'm anti-EVERYBODY! and quite loud about it, too.

If by that you can't tell who I am ingame, then either:

a) You're too dense.

b) You are not on at the time I'm on.

As for IA and IDF not going away, they've never been there much anyway. As for fighting them, my alts have died to pretty much every (active) guild in the game, with the POSSIBLE exception of TGFT (I have a lousy memory, though, so can't really remember).
Some awesome players in all Guilds, some not so great. But Guild-wise, they all suck!

Now who's gonna pay for my dog? It was a purebreed, too!
Jun 04, 2005 Screwball link
Hi jexkerome. If you play that pirate with the named feared by romans, then yes, even TGFT has killed you a few times.
