Itani Nation Government?

"B8 has all ways been wild on paper but now its a war zone. No niceties need be observed." said Jestatis Bess.

I am a frequent resident of B8. There is a thing called "Warrior code of honour".
Its unwritten but respected by a vast majority of Serco and Itani warriors.
Government has nothing to do with it and will never have.
Its a warrior thing and those who neglect that unwritten code will never be a true warriors or gain any respect in this universe.

The real code of space is the code of the scope

Red you're dead!
Green is clean!

unless a government attempts to control me

Then the green will turn mean
I will see nothing red
the nation will fall
you will be dead

Hmm. This thread brings back memories.

CrazySpence, there is indeed a "Warrior Code of Conduct" but it's hard to explain. You just have to spend enough time in B8 to get a feel for it. Basically, there are three aspects to it:

1) PvP is a learning experience for both parties, regardless of the relative skills each player brings to the table.

2) There's always somebody better than you. So be modest in your victories and gracious in your defeats.

3) Don't be a dickweed.

That's about it.

(Yeah roguelazer, and if this thing turns into another "HONOR" discussion I swear I'll gouge out my eyeballs with sporks...)

i actually suspect rogue was referring to the governments of alpha, i seem to recall him having a.. certain.. familiarity =D ... with them.

JestatisBess: I'm not stopping you from trying, but i can say with a fair degree of certainty that you wont be taken seriously by the majority of the community. I certaintly plan to pay no attention to you. The devs are highly unlikely to stop you or say anything either because they have better things to do with thier time.

as to
"No offence to you spell or the develpers but if we waited for the developers to take action they promised we could be waiting for along time"
yes, we will, but not as long as i have allready been waiting. I have a much longer view of this than you do Jestatis, i dont mind waiting because i know when it does get done it will be worth it.

and the cap battles and other events are within the framework of the gameplay, they are not however the same thing as attempting to co-opt a defined group (such as the government of a nation) and make it player run.

either way, you are free to do as you like, but speaking from experience if i were you i wouldnt hold my breath waiting for it to work.

the tdea of a government is interesting, bu what exactly would you do? i mean given that the perposed government looks mostly like a council of guilds, it seems like all you would realy be doing is discussing guild polocys and attempting to enforce those polocies on non members under the guise of a "Government".

while in my opinion that is basicly what governments do u think you will finde a lot of trouble keeping people in line

Two words.
Hit. Men.

And you wonder where your Itani tax money goes.

Isn't "hitmen" only one word, Borb? :P

I wholeheartedly agree with Lord Q on this.

Besides, anarchy is tons better.

Go ahead and attempt your government I'll just topple it :)
Sep 07, 2005 roguelazer link
There will be official government support in the game, along with official nation militaries. Until then, anything that attempts to fill that gap is presumptuous and destined to failure.

Uh... rogue, they're not trying to steal your members...

I know. I'm just giving advice. I think it's a well-structured idea and a good plan. I also think it's destined to fail. C'est la vie.

that was pretty much my take on it as well rogue.

Thank you Spell and roguelazer for your comments I really appreciate them. You actually might be right and this council will fail like the last one. But I’m willing to give it a try. If we don’t try we will never know. I think most of the active players today are not the esteemed alpha/beta player like you. We don’t know what happened before so we try new things to us. They might work out this time or they might fail. But we try anyway.

Lord Q: great question. This is not about guilds per se. This is about the Itani People. Those 3 guilds represent about 60% to 75% of the active Itani players. They do need a voice and so do the guildless and the newbies. I know the guilds and individuals have plans for their guilds and the Itani nation. I want up to come together to discuss some of those ideas and refocus our efforts toward the greater good.

Spell was right about one thing though, we live in a void with no direction. Recently I was thinking what the Itani nation would think about my recent actions. I think my actions are moderate and not extreme at all. But how am I to know? By forming the council I hope to get some direction. The council won’t force anyone to do anything they don’t want to. They will come up with recommendations but no Itani will be forced into doing what they recommend.

I know what you are thinking, “With out enforcement what good is it?” I still believe most players will follow the recommendations of the council. And even if they don’t they will know what most players think is the right way.

In the next couple of days I will come up with an agenda, that anyone can add to, for our first meeting. I’ll post it on an Itani only site where it can be debated to death. Each Itani who’s interested can pm or email their suggestions to their council members. Then we’ll meet in a bout a week to discuss it.

I implore you Itani nation, let us come out of the void and come together to have a new shared direction. But as always the choice is yours.

PS: Roguelazer will you send someone from your guild to be apart of this great undertaking. If so send someone who doesn’t think it’s already doomed to failure please.

Are UIT who lean toward the Itani side of the spectrum allowed?

No this is an Internal Itani council. I was thinking of asking for a UIT represenitive to attend Non-classified meeting though.

I'm willing to assist you in that capacity.
What about making an Ambassadorial Department for each nation? It would allow the other nations to have their say, without giving them the influence of a Council seat. Maybe three or four Ambassadors per nation, with differing opinions on policies (say, one peace-lover, one aggressive person, and one isolationist).

I nominate myself as the agressive person for the UIT. :)
Is that the kind of thing you want, Jes?
