VPR are a PVP guild.

They are not anti pirate, or they would have been the first to claim by recent bounty, I have to go against my own morals by naming names, but nerde verde seemed to think I should come to him, and let him claim a bounty for some reason, (and in b8 tooo, a sector I do not frequent)

Hows about you bastards running to UiT space every time some poor n00b cries *help, soso is shooting me*

it just doesnt happen, VPR = a PVP guild, not anti-pirate. True pirates pirate, the wannabe's hang in b8.

Shiver me timbers, we actually do.

ooc - I think the problem is, that combat tends to centralise too much in Sedina b-8, wich I dont realy like either. First of all, its in the Serco CTC path, wich gives them an unfair disadvantage, second, it doesnt realy do good things for RP.
Instead of people playing their role, as a trader, or soldier, or pirate or whatever, a lot of people tend to just go to b8 and fight. New players hang out in b8, looking for action, while they should be scared to enter grey (i know i was). Itani's and Serco come to fight eachother, while there is a conflict going on on the Serco-Itani border.

It evolved a bit in the wrong direction, and now the damage is done. I think the main problem is the lack of a large playerbase and people still wanting to meet eachother. Itll be better i guess when this game gets mass marketted and more players enter our little universe. For now, B8 is just overhyped (yea who?me? like Dyke Jones :p )!!!! Its not worth it, but people come anyway, cause its all they hear.

*Edit: and having #100 turned off doesnt realy help in receiving help calls, still I refuse to go back to 100. The 2 best things I ever did with Vendetta are turning my gamma down to 6 or less and turning off #100. #100 realy doesnt help RP!!

How's about some more traders freqenting the space lanes, so we can get back to piracy?

I'm a pirate when I can be. But there are very few reasons to trade when you can have more fun and still make money in BP.

So the economy needs to change quite a bit. You used to see traders all over the place trying to up faction standing. Now it takes 2 trips to get 100 standing.

I mean, that's just TOO easy. I remember trying to up corvus faction at release. each mission would give me maybe 8 faction standing... do you know how long it takes to go up 1000?

And I'm not saying that people should do more trading. Or that the faction system then was a good thing. But I think the main reason why it was frustrating was not the number of missions you had to take, but rather the blandness of the missions themselves.

Perhaps that can change soon, and we can drop the faction rewards a bit.

And here's the other half of the story:

I found you at the station you'd been hiding in for nearly half an hour. You were not "Killing noobs in UIT space". Your were hanging out 1 WH from B8. I found you after confirming that there was not, in fact, any pirate presence anywhere in UIT space. At that point, you ran off in a bus, claiming that you were going to go find a better ship. 45 minutes after that, you finally came back to grey space, after making sure to hand the bounty to one of your guildmates.

So by your logic, CLM != a pirate guild. CLM is a bounty farming guild.

Your move, oh little green one.

yoda, what is this rubbish. Let me say it once more: The Viper Guild helps every trader in distress when attacked by pirates. A subtle, but decisive precondition for us being able to do so: we have to know what's going on. So, contact us and so that we actually have the oppurtinity to come for help. Thank you.

Well, I can't comment on the viper guild, but I wouldn't mind mentioning that Nerde's nickname is "inept patrol" for a good reason.

As I've claimed quite a few of Yoda's bounties I will say he doesn't give them away. If someone claims one from him it's been a genuine fight. The fact that it's often his guild mates is partly because they're his guild mates and mostly because they can find him easily.

rotflmao...

And now... the "third" and final half of the story: Yoda, it wasn't even *you*, it was "UPN" (okay, this is picking nits, but you make false statements as if they were truth and expect people to take you seriously). :D

I know, I was with Nerde. We both searched the sectors around B8. There was not a single distress call all night. It was very quiet (and I will gladly post my entire log if you wish... but it would be very lengthy and not very helpful for anything other than to prove my point). So what do we do on quiet nights when there are no cries for help? We patrol known areas of pirate (and pirate wannabe) activity. If we take in a "wannabe", we just might be able to scare him straight... it's happened before.

Tidbits of proof:

[10/02/05 01:43:03] ffb935(guild) [Latos O-12] <Nerde Verde> Making a quick tour of UIT space

[10/02/05 02:56:53] 28b4f0[100]<Seta Ralel> need some floss, upn?

Hehe... the morals of the story are:
1) Vipers *are* anti-pirate - need help, call us
2) Pirates are interesting folk that like to spin a yarn every now and then
3) If you live in a Valk, you shouldn't eat popcorn.

*OOC* good points Ash and Shape...

And btw., everytime someone blows me up (which happens way too often lately, admittedly) I patrol UIT space on my way down to gray space. It happens pretty often, believe it. ;)

Viper is a PVP guild and CLM is a bounty exploiting guild.
Everyone already knew this....
Ok we're even now.
Oct 02, 2005 jexkerome link
Whoever believes CLM is a pirate guild has been living a lie all these months. CLM has ALWAYS been a PK guild (not even a PvP one, since they prey on defenseless traders), and they've always been both open and proud (or as proud as you can be about attacking unarmed people, anyway) about that fact. The only one guild with an even flimsier excuse for PKing traders was that silly Transit Authority, which thankfully never left the drawing board. The CLM is also without any sort of honor outside B-8 (which is why people like UPN no longer go there) and thus it should be no surprise that they attack their own guildmates and so their bounties tend to stay within the guild.

On the other hand, I HAVE seen the better elements of VPR actively hunting pirates; that they are simply outmatched by said pirates is another matter entirely, just as Nerde Verde being too lazy to work up an honest PK record is another matter entirely and nothing to do with VPR as a guild. In other words, VPR does what its supposed to do as a whole, but its pilots lack the skill to stand true to their charter.

So, stop fighting over semantics, children, and keep doing your own thing:

VPR, keep patrolling (or not) Union and greyspace; there is little actual help you provide, but nevertheless a handful of traders still feels safer by your presence, Devs know why. And isn't that justification alone for keeping up the fight?

CLM, keep up your endogamic Bounty Hunting and your unfair PK ways; after all, you seem to both enjoy and be successful with them, and this game is all about fun. Why change what works?

The rest of you, keep trading and fighting and dying and whining and spamming; from the above sentence, feel free to wear as many shoes that fit you as you want :P

I for one do intend to keep doing everything I'm doing currently in the game, to the best of my ability.
